Has anyone heard of any landowners negotiating paid-up leases with a delay rental of $8,000 to $10,000 per acre? In the last week I've had two people speak about this, one of whom is a small business owner who operates a pipeline company in the Hickory area.
I know that landowners in the Barnett have received very generous delay rentals over the course of the gas boom in TX, some of which reached well over $20,000 per acre, but I haven't yet seen anything in Washington Co. that has shown per-acre payments of over $5,000. Rumors circulate, but could this hold true?
Thoughts?
Landowners in this county should not settle for drilling companies' offers of $1,000 to $3,000 paid-up per acre and royalties of 15% to 17.5%. These companies are getting off cheaply and most landowners are leaving big money on the table!
