What do you all think about this deal with Antero.  There is a signing next week involving several townships.  somerset, warren, wayne, union, flushing, kirkwood, and goshen.  Does the utica landowners group get money per acre from the 5700?  Im wondering if they are using this big signing to only cherry pick the ones they really want.  I would like to find a company that is gaurenteed to pay instead of forcing us to wait several months and then have to be released because of nonpayment.

Rice?

If they are half as good as they seemed when the Smith-Goshen group signed with them, Belmont County will be in the driver's seat for Utica development.

Or they can go to the Rice Leasing Office  in St. Clairsville at 252 West Main St.. Its fully staffed with Rice employees and has recently been expanded. It is my understanding that they have been flooded by Antero castoffs calling and are only accepting larger parcel of land if it fits into their drilling plans.

My experience with Rice tells me that if your acreage is next to and can be combined with what they've already signed, they will be very interested in partnering with you. If your land makes their existing leases more able to be developed, they WANT to hear from you.

How do you check this?  I can't figure out how to find other antero leases on landaccess without knowing the name or filing page / number.  I would like to know if the leases that were released are near my property

If you go to the Landaccess site and key Antero in the name field, it will show you the entire list of leases and releases that they have had recorded. You will have to open each item to see who is named in the lease/release.

Thank you.  Do you know if anyone in Goshen has gotten paid?

No. We're part of the Smith-Goshen group so I don't know much about Antero.

Just curious...we're closing in on day 150 (February 19, 2013) and has anyone received an executed lease and a bonus check in the Flushing Twp area??? And if so how did it arrive...USPS or FedEx???

According to the wording in the lease Antero has up to 150 days to complete its title search.....  "In the event Lessor does not receive the balance of the Bonus, as may be adjusted based on Lessee's title review, on or before the Payment Date, then the Lease shall automatically become null and void. Promptly after any termination, expiration or voiding of this lease, Lessee shall provide Lessor with a copy of an appropriate release of the Memorandum of lease and Lessor shall cause the same to be filed of record."  I'm presuming that we're Tuesday Feb 19th that we're all free agents after that date....my other question is do we after wait for something official from Antero to in order to sign elsewhere??? It's terrible that our land is tied up for 7 months with nothing to show other than a $10 per acre "show of good faith".

Once the O&G company files "The Release"  in the court house, you are free to sign with who you want. You can also sign with another company once the terms of the lease is up and they have not paid you, or once an older lease is about to expire  Its Called "TOP LEASING" some oil and gas companies will and some won't top lease. In either case, The top lease won't take effect till the old lease is released in the court.

Also, if the O&G company drags its feet on given you a release once the lease has expired without payment, you MUST send them a written certified letter requesting to be released. Don't bother to call them, as they know a court will only recognize a signed receipt of the letter as prof of the request. This is what I had to do with Oxford Oil on an old lease.

Thanks for the information...I'm getting an education.
