If Fan's process works on Coal why not use it (or a similar process) to combust other fossil fuels as well (such as Gasoline / Oil / Kerosene / Jet Fuel / Natural Gas) ?
The way I see it, these days only the cleanest burning fossil fuels should be used.
If coal is used it should only be used if it's pollutants are cleaned from the exhaust, collected and disposed of in another manner than simple release to atmosphere.
Scrubbers and processes are costly investments but simply required to preserve our planet.
If, right now, that can't be done economically then Coal shouldn't be used.
From what I understand using Natural Gas currently is the most economical solution and the quickest / best way to significantly diminish polluting emissions.
Giddyup with Natural Gas Development and Conversions.
Quit stalling.
We need a paradigm shift.
Develop these new technologies and make them more economical with the time we buy.
Reminds me of the old handwarmer in a bag with the powdered chemicals inside...
Even if coal combustion gases (Thermal or chemical) are 100% clean, The foot print isn't just from harvesting. The ash and other residuals (CCR's) take up 100's of thousands of acres and leave an ongoing risk to water, property and life. How many times has current drilling been blamed for Ohio River polution from prior drilling activity and seepage from known and unknown ash piles and containment ponds. If the wacktivists had logical brains they would demand coal ash and residuals be made into bricks, cultured stone and paving blocks to build their brownstones and apartment buildings.

Right On Brother.
The whole process has to be clean no matter what fossil fuel we're talking about.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
