Gulfport/Clay well begun

Hello, a new Gulfport wellsite and prep began on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 on the farm owned by Dick and Kaye Clay, of Freeport & Moorefield townships in Harrison county.  When we first knew they were going to drill on us, I got on the web searching for any kind of information on the subject.  There isn't a lot out there for the landowner.  So I will be attempting to let you know what's going on, as it happens, in the hopes that it will help others.

ODNR approved the permit on June 13. We found this out by searching the web, not direct contact. Then on June 19 it was crazy with people coming and going. 

2 large dozers began moving top soil. The last 2 days they have been working on the access road. Keep in mind this is on private property and there is no way to get close to watch the happenings, like at the boy scout camp and Rysers.

I just saw this permit this week on the ODNR website. As the other Gulfport wells, it is permitted as a strat. (verticle) well on 40 acres. This prompts the construction of the access road and pad. My "guess" is that when the rig is finished at the Ryser pad it will move to the BK Stevens pad in Moorefield, and when finished there will move to the Clay pad. They'll then apply for a plug back permit to the Point Pleasant formation and apply for the horizontal permit, which will require the number of acres in the drilling unit.

Question: Kaye, did you guys lease the property out, or was there an old lease in place? Did you sign with Wishgard, or KWGD? If you find those questions too personal, I understand. Thanks for sharing.

Do you own the Oil and Gas rights ??

 

I find that no contact extremely DISTURBING, pretty poor way to do business.

Someone needs to contact Gulfport, throught the grapevine, most dealings I have been aware of have been very cordial, informative and respectful towards the landowner.

They better not do that on my farm.

whoa, Gulfport has been very communicative and helpful!! I condensed the info in my last posting and some may have gotten the wrong idea.......  

Anyway, we have a terrific crew working here. In the past week they have cleared a road and it began getting stone yesterday.  That also included new culverts, relocating water and electric lines and other misc. work.They have moved top soil and are in the process of building the pad site.

btw, we signed with Wishgard in fall 2010.

K Clay, Any update on the Clay Well?  Was that drilled in August?  Wondered when they would start flaring? Thanks for any update.

Hello, I will try to update on the Clay well. Pad construction and access road builiding took about 5 weeks. Then wow, when they moved in to set up the drill, what a sight to see. they compared it to building a city, and that was what it was. way cool that about 5 different companies move in all that equipment and do their own separate jobs/processes, almost like its choreographed. Anyway, it took just over a month to drill, then they haul it all out and move in the fracking stuff. It took about 5-6 weeks to frack, due to some equipment malfunctions.  Now we are waiting for them to drill out the plugs. Then they will do the flow back.  We should find out what quality of well we have at that point.

As noted in another thread, production numbers from the Clay well are out via gulfport.  Seems like good numbers to me but I will let others who know how to convert the reported number to dollars let us know.

I see on the County Engineers Report that 2 more legs have been included from the Clay well pad.  Congrats to the Clays.

I went across RT 22 today and see a rig is back at the Clay Farm drilling another leg.  I also saw that an oil and gas line was being constructed to go to the well.  Looked like a pretty busy place right now.
