Drilling unit in Wayne Twp., Ashtabula County has been approved by ODNR. While 2 permits appear, they are actually for the same well, Magyar 9. One is for the vertical (6500 feet to the Trenton) and the other is for the horizontal (13945 feet(???) in the Point Pleasant). I'm guessing the 13945 feet includes the vertical footage. Unit acreage is about 690 acres.
From what I've been hearing, drilling is supposed to start the beginning of August. The same rig will be drilling both the vertical and the horizontal...

Ed,
This one ought to really 'splain' things to a lot of people (landowners and drillers) in Ashtabula County !
A single horizontal lateral say 6500' long after a 500' bend from vertical, a 500' setback from the vertical well bore and the horizontal lateral's terminus, while considering a fracture drainage 'reach' of 250' each side of the horizontal lateral could equate to a 'production area' (note that the term 'production area' is my own term as I don't really know the difference between the terms 'Production Unit' and 'Drilling Unit' that are used in the ORC) of 8000' long x 500' wide or 4,000,000 square feet. Then 4,000,000 / 43,560 square feet per acre would only equate to a 'production area' of about 91.827 acres. Looks like there's room for another 6.5 wells like that.
Wondering, in your case, will all landowners in the 690 acre Unit be paid royalty ? Or will only the landowners in the 91.827 acre 'production area' be earning royalty ?
Good luck with it all Ed.
Joeseph,
Everyone in the 690 acre unit will recieve royalties! Man I hope this one is a gusher, would like see this erea north of me proven and silence some of the critics here on GMS. Would like to see mass lease signings this fall !!
Fang, Yes I am very proud to be a ALOV member, with one of the best leases in the country. There is a very good reason you dont use your name on this sight, not hard to figure out. Do you have any idea what is going on in Trumbull county right now as far as leasing, bonus, locations, ect. ect ? If you dont I can fill you in if you want !! And by the way if it where not for landgroups" there would be no BONUS". It is not very hard to figure out why you and a few others on GMS dont like these larger landgroups.
Flogging a dead horse (alternatively beating a dead horse, or beating a dead dog in some parts of the Anglophone world) is an idiom that means a particular request or line of conversation is already foreclosed or otherwise resolved, and any attempt to continue it is futile; or that to continue in any endeavour (physical, mental, etc.) is a waste of time as the outcome is already decided.
Hi Fang. It's on the ODNR well search site.
Search in "Plug and Permits" under "Reports"..."Greater than or Equal" to June 1, 2013 in Application Issued line..."Equal" and "Ashtabula" in County line...then Click on the "Report" button above the "Application Issued" line.
more than i have... thanks for an update J-O
Looks like the rig was going to get here later than they wanted and Beusa did not want to drill in the bad weather so the decision was made to delay until spring.
This came from someone that had direct dealings with them.
So now all of Ashtabula wait's

Beusa is the operator of record according to ODNR so they are drilling for themselves or will have a driller that works for them. For example Chesapeake is listed on ODNR as the operator for the wells they own but both NOMAC a subsidiary of Chesapeake and Patterson drill for them.
This permit was issued on 6/72013 and an article about it was in Star Beacon on June 13, 2013

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
