I have been approached to run a pipeline through my farm. It is a 100' temporary with a 75' permanent right of way. Are there any regulations or rules where they must keep a certain distance from buildings or property lines from the 75' right of way, or from the actual pipeline itself?

Permalink Reply by Tony Yurina on December 6, 2013 at 3:08pm Companies assume the previously built pipeline is centered in the easement width unless the easement document language states otherwise. Given a 75 permanent easement width, you could build a barn, etc. 37 1/2 feet from the center line of the easement.

markwest setback 10 feet from edge of property line that is for 100 foot construction easement (75 foot final easement) from the edge of the construction easement and they said 200 foot from dwellings or buildings even though no buildings were close to the proposed row from what I understand there is no real law on setback distance and I have been shown pipelines that literally run right through a back yard very scary naturally these are pre-existing pipelines old school if you will hope this helps a little mark P.S.. they told me intinial pipeline will be installed at the furthest edge of the final easement area to maximize the row not in the center of the final row which is what I naturally thought and I guess so do a lot of other people GOOD-LUCK

I would suggest that you call your state/local government officials to get the answers you seek.

In the mean time they came out Friday, and want to run the line right down the property line. Half on my side, half on my neighbors side. Since there are buildings nearby I was just curious if there were any state laws requiring them to stay a certain distance from inhabited or uninhabited buildings.
