"The land in Beaver County is owned by Horsehead Holding Corp. ZINC -0.61% , a metal-processing company based in Pittsburgh. A Horsehead spokesman earlier said Shell's option on the land, which had been due to expire in early January, had been renewed but that terms were confidential.
Ms. Windon said in an email that the company was continuing to evaluate the site and hadn't made any decision on whether to proceed with the project. "The demolition work is being initiated to begin preparation of the site for potential construction," she said. That work is due to begin early in 2014."

I went by the site 2 times in the last week..today there were 7 crains sitting in the waiting area and in the beginning of the week there were about 30 cars in the lot by the Midway bar. Now that the plant is closed I think things will start happening ..report any activity u see.
The Power House at Horsehead Ind. { ST JOE} is almost torn down. That was as today Wed 5-21-14 around noon. By Thursday only the stack should be standing!!

The old poor house buildings, guardhouses. Bolierhouse only stacks up,as of Friday afternoon. Starting demo on buildings. east of 376. Train tracks removed in certain areas.

I can't report anything new. I drove by the area today, it appears things are abit quieter however there is still equipment there with the piles of material cleaned up pretty good.
