Hello,
Forgive my ignorance, most of you on this site appear to be well informed (ha! no pun intended) and I have a question that may seem obvious to y'all, which is...
Can a vertical Clinton well, or any currently producing vertical well, be turned into a horizontal well without having to re-negotiate with the mineral owner(s)? I'm guessing that in doing so any mineral owners affected and not under lease would be approached for leasing, but would those already under lease be able to re-negotiate because the nature of the well has changed?
And, now that I'm asking, what is the overall likely hood of a vertical well being re-visited as a horizontal well?
Sorry if this has been discussed previously and I missed it.

Yes, if the leasehold is large enough to accommodate the additional size needed.

Roughly the same likelihood as the Jews and the Palestinians becoming best friends and going on a joint vacation to Disney's California Adventure.
Ah. So the likelihood is possible in the coming new and improved millennium, minus the Disney stuff, of course.
I dont think that reworking a vertical into a horizontal would be economical for producers .....seems it be cheaper to drill a completely new hole ....and it would not take in 700-800 acres ....somewhere around 70 to 100 acres is all that would be involved in a well depending on the length of the lateral IMHO enervest is drilling several horizontal wells in northern carroll and eastern stark county and none of them are bigger then 110 acres ....as far as lease it all would depend on the wording in the lease .....most leases do not specify vertical or horizontal ...most were written before horizontal was put into practice...... all enervest wells are new wells non are reworked verticals ......I dout they are reworking a vertical in coshocton .....may be drilling on the same pad but a new well ....would like for James to show prove that they are using the same borehole as a vertical well to to expensive and the original 40 acres would not totally be involved in the new horizontal...when u turn left the acreage on the right is not part of the well
That's such a bad idea. What cheap b@stards NGO are. The notion that someone else's production hole is not without some unknown flaw is where environmental mistakes happen.
So that request was made back in 2013 over a year ago has it ever approved and i agree with Dexter ....they could ruin all the other wells they drill past and turn them into salt water wells
Wouldn't it stink if that was the plan ?a
What remedy would be available to economically injured landowners ?
None ?
i know of a 20 acre well drilled in carroll county in the mid 70s in the center of 4 40 acre wells that had what they called a super frack put on jt and the well to the east of it flowed 200 bbl a day for 6 weeks ......and that well was 5 years old and is still producing 30 years later......back when oil was 4.69 a barrell and gasoline was 25 cents a gallon

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
