Environmental obstructionists finally get rolled as Keystone XL to be allowed Senate vote

After having been approved several times in the House of Representatives over many years, the Keystone XL pipeline is finally likely next week to be brought up for a vote in the United States Senate.

As has been the case with some 300 House-passed legislative initiatives over six years, the Keystone XL was never permitted a Senate vote prior.  This is because environmental extremists control the Obama Administration, with their anti-American tentacles extending into the existing, but soon to be former, Senate leadership.

Obama is not through yet harming America; just wait until next week if you doubt me.  But it's reassuring to watch as his relentless attack on us begins to falter and disintegrate.

Obama is not going to like this!!

Let's hope this is only the beginning of efforts to stop Obama and his fanatical groupies!!

Condensate is oil by any other name.  The state of Ohio logs the condensate produced as oil.  Saying that because it has a higher gravity is cause for it to simply be sold without compensation to the landowner is preposterous.  I'd ask for some real, concrete evidence that a company is engaging in behavior that amounts to grand theft.

I agree with you, but others would dispute. Nobody will be arrested because it is a civil matter. Does the state log condensate as oil, or do they simply enter what is reported?

"So your argument is that all of the oil/condensate produced in the Utica--which is reported to the state--is simply being extracted for free? That seems pretty unlikely."

Don't see where anyone made this statement above. Does seem pretty unlikely.
The condensates that folks are paying the production cost to have them separated and/or shipped, then not getting royalties on them, aren't free either. That would be in the negative.

"Then it must be thinned with the now called "waste" condensates that are being stolen from the Utica to make it flow thru the pipeline."

Stolen implies they're being taken without compensation to the landowner.  Pretty clear to me what the implication was.

Seriously, Obama has won, regardless whether he vetoes it or not

Keystone Doesn't Matter Anymore

It is too late. It doesn't matter. The XL pipeline has been overtaken by events.

BTW, I predicted a wave of buying and it has already started with the merger of Halliburton and Baker-Hughes which in itself was a merger years ago.  Look for lots and lots of sales and mergers with the majors buying production that they are too incompetent to find themselves.

That's a good, interesting, and valuable opinion piece, LERRET, thanks for posting it here.

My principal interest in the XL at this point is using it to pound the environmentalist crazies into submission.  These people are human beings (OK, some might argue that, but they are!) so we cannot simply kill them.  They must be defeated politically and their nutty ways of thinking must forever be laid to rest.  The XL will help to dispirit them and conquer them.  For that purpose alone it is a worthwhile pursuit.

Why should we let the Canadians ship their hazardously produced tar sand crap through our country ? Let them ship it out of their own ports!

We have way more than enough gas and NGLs right here to be independent of foreign produced oil if we just get the wells in and pipelines worked on quicker; we can easily produce and convert all of our oil guzzling cars and heavy trucks to propane, why do we need to further promoting foreign competition from Canadian produced dirty, wastefully tar sand oil ?

The goal is to become energy independent, not beholden to foreign nations, even if it is Canada.
Guess that makes me an environmental tree hugging crazy ;)

Why should we let the Canadians ship their hazardously produced tar sand crap through our country ? Let them ship it out of their own ports!

Explain that please. Why is tar sand oil any more toxic than other kinds of oil?  (it isn't)

Explain why the XL line would not be used for Bakken oil as well (it will be, it was scheduled to be from day one, and no reason why a significant part won't be)

So if we have an oil spill from a pipeline, and we clean up say 10,000 bbl of oil, how does that compare to say a tanker disaster like the Exxon Valdez in the St. Lawrence Seaway, or in the Atlantic Ocean?  One tanker would likely involve far larger volume of oil.  We won't always have an abundance of oil. So where do you propose to get the energy from?  Bird killing windmills?  Desert covering solar panels (and what happens after dark?)

The environmental solution is for all environmentalists to be banned from owning an automobile, or to use public transportation that uses oil, diesel, or other fossil fuels; and allow them electricity only 2 hours per day. See what they do.

Isolationism is a failed policy

1. No, we don't have enough to be self-sufficient

2. It's a global market

3. Keystone will also ship American crude

4. The US and Canada share the largest friendly border of any two nations in the world; we get a tremendous amount of oil from them already

5. Energy independence is a myth

Annie

Agreed!!!  Those dastardly Canadians need to mind their own business and tend to their own problems!!  It's bad enough they are beheading decent Americans, and others, from BC all the way across to Cape Spear and . . . . oh, wait a minute . . . . I got that wrong.  It's the other guys doing the beheadings.  The Canadians are actually friends of Americans . . . at least of some Americans.

<hangs head in shame, then mumbles:>

With apologies to Prime Minister Harper and our frozen friends to the north, I humbly withdraw my agreement.

Your source article states that XL doesn't matter anymore because oil production is rapidly becoming unprofitable. It predicts another oil bust. It states that only two of ten wells drilled is immediately profitable. Is that what you  believe?
