Do friends and relatives view you as a piggy bank now?

Just like we read about lottery winners having to deal with people wanting money. Has anyone experienced that with your new found gas/oil wealth? I'm dealing with that right now. They try to put you on a guilt trip while justifying (in their mind) why they are entitled to some of your "easy money".

It always seems to come down to lawyers in family business. You could offer the past 20 years expenses (negative dollars)  on your portion of the farm, see if they are equally willing to share that as they are the possible windfall they perceive. Your 'Luck' is the intersection of preparation and opportunity. Entitlement has a very strong call that transcends rational thought. Everyone likes free money.

Tell them you would gladly give them half but you're sorry the government already took it for taxes.
So they should write a letter to the IRS asking for the money back as they grew up on that property and feel entitled to the money.
Lol wonder how that would work out?
