"Antero Resources deducts severance tax/Ad Valorem from my royalty income. I am a mineral owner, I do not own the land."

Noble County-Antero Drilling in Beaver Township

Just saw on the ODNR site Antero Resources is drilling 3 Zimmer laterals from their Alpha Pad off Tuckahoe Rd. The original drilling permits which expired last year had the laterals extending to the Guernsey County line, however the new permits have the laterals stopping at Whiskey Run Road. Any thoughts as to why the new permits are for shorter laterals?See More

I can't even imagine a grade school in Batesville today!  It's difficult to imagine what life is going to be like in the area after the next 20 years.  Thanks for sharing your story.  I was born about the time you left the area. I can't even begin to tell you the strange way my parents ended up there.  Suffice it to say, it took two tremendous hurricanes to blow them all the way up to Batesville, where they are now in their 80's and trying to hang in there until this gas & oil story clears up things....

How long has it been since you've been back?  This whole oil & gas thing is crazy, and will change the whole character of the area forever...probably not for the good, at least for the people who valued the serenity and beauty of the area.  It's not really a mixed blessing; for those who are willing to leave and make some money they never expected, it's great; for those who loved the area, it is more than a little sad, really.
