- My great grandfather owned a 171 acre farm in Brooke County. The mineral rights stayed in my family, but the land was sold. Surface owners filed a lis pendens in 2011, and a researcher contacted all the heirs. We are hoping to be contacted with a lease offer soon. I'm new at all this, and would welcome any words of advice as to how my family can capitalize on this opportunity.
