I heard they were drilling a test well near Marble for the Utica.  Does anybody have a confirmation on this?

New pad will be on Rt 208 between Shippenville and Fryburg.  Drilling is going to be for the Utica Shale

There is a pad under preparation on a farm near there which is clearly visible from the highway, however the seam to be drilled for isn't known.

Looked at the DEP web site today appears that the well on rt. 208 in the Marbel area is being drilled by Pa. general energy from Warren. Well is not listed as a Marcellus but is listed for a lateral, looks like well is to be drilled to a deph of 5400 ft. Is that deep enough for a utica well?

I was told today they are about finished drilling this well and it is a Utica well.
any info. on the well on rt. 208? heard the drilling rig has moved out.
They hit a ton of salt water in the shale between the Marcellus and the Utica and DEP shut them down.

I heard it was a dry hole, they didn't drill down far enough only 5200 ft.  All kinds of rumors circulating about this.  Is this a fact?
The salt water comment came from a DEP rep.
thanks
Has a rig moved back to the well near Marble?
This is what was in the Clarion News last week:

"DEP issued a permit to Pennsylvania General Energy for the Ziegler 2527 well on Feb. 7. Drilling began on the site just off State Route 208 in the southern end of Washington Township a week later.

But drilling was stopped and the well abandoned and sealed, according to DEP spokesperson Freda Tarbell, when drillers ran into excessive amounts of water in the Onandaga formation, just below the Marcellus and above the Oriskany."

Well was sealed, not pluged. A working rig is on site. Could they plug the well back to the Marcellus, and make a working Marcellus well ?
