Are these two different land agents?  What's the story with this guy named Des and does he work for NALS or SOLA?  The lease that Des has floating around looks great, but how many gas companies are going to use 'his' lease and how much will it change by the time they make an offer?  Most leases seem to start with the gas company's lease and have negotiated addendums that were attached to the lease.  Thoughts?

Des W. is and independent landman as far as I can tell. At different times he has represented himself here as being affiliated with both of the organizations you mention. I think he makes his money getting between the landowner and the lessee and taking a cut.

Finnbear,

I'm glad to hear you approve.  I've read many of your posts and respect your opinion as you seem to be fairly knowledgeable and level headed.  I had signed on with Des some time ago because I thought he was a pretty good option compared to what was out there.

Des seems like a decent guy with solid industry knowledge.  I agree that, whatever name he's working under now, he comes across as a viable option.  MY sense is that he won't be the first, or maybe even the second Belmont group to sign.  It could be worth the wait. Like someone said, it's all about your personal preference.
