Why are some of the well sites marked with "push pins" yet there is no unit outline indicating what properties are included in the unit ?

The pushpins are merely sites for which a DEP permit has been applied for. The units are defined by the company when they file the unit declaration in the courthouse.
According to CHK this declaration is normally filed 6 months after production starts, unless your lease is about to expire. In that case the unit is declared about the time "commencement of operations" takes place on the pad. This is variable based on the wording in your lease.
Also these unit declarations can be altered anytime and as many times as the company desires.
