Anyone heard news of any permitting or drilling activity in the county?

There was an article in the Wayne Independent about the Delaware River Basin Commission trying to streamline their process. Several permits have been issued by DEP but not acted upon by DRBC. Hess/Newfield will apparently be submitting permit applications soon for exploratory wells that they hope to drill next Spring/Summer.
The basin commission is trying to set up an approval by rule for the siting of pads. If the gas companies meet specific environmental conditions, setbacks from wetlands rivers and streams, they will be able to obtain a general permit.

The DRBC also suggested that withdrawal areas be setup for all companies rather then each company having their own withdrawal area.

If implemented it should speed the permitting proccess up considerably.
This sounds promising. Thanks for the info. I read that chk is selling its leases to Hess or others? If this is the case are they obligated to tell those of us hold leases with them? I have a lease on my property in Mt Pleasent Township with Chk.
