Can anyone tell me if there are new laws that will be changing the game here for us?  Like forced pooling or laws that make the oil and gas companies not hold a lease for 100 years with just delay rentals etc...what changes are coming that will turn the tables a little bit?

As the drilling heats up in PA it would benefit both the state and royalty owners to have a State Agency set up to be watchdogs over reported production. Royalties are income and taxed as income so it would be beneficial to us and the government to assure we are being paid for every drop. Accountability for absolutely correct production numbers should be enforced to the hilt. The problem would be rounding up enough honest people to man such an agency. Maybe abuse of public trust should be a capital offense ?

New laws; lots of 'em proposed based on shale commission report. Lots of new things like further setbacks from water, larger testing and "presumed guilty" area, impact fees, higher bonding for both plugging wells and road issues, higher fines, and lots more.   http://shale.sites.post-gazette.com/index.php/news/politics/24037-s...  There will be many changes before any of these are passed so monitor all proposals and talk to your legislators.

One the O & G industry is pushing is for forced pooling. There is already a forced pooling statute that covers the Utica but it has never been done and there is no system in place to follow.  Look for some clarity on Utica forced pooling. Also, the industry wants forced pooling for all, including the Marcellus.  However, there is stiff opposition statewide to it. The Governor has said he might consider a law allowing for forced pooling between companies that have leases but cannot agree on sells, swaps, or JVs. He has said he is against forcing people that are not leased into any lease or pool allowing companies to drill on or under their property.

You know what I think sucks as well.. Gas companies holding land with just paying rentals from leases dating back to 1917...when the they are making millions..hows that for a f you very much...
