You're wrong about no permit being issued for drilling in Trumbull County, Ryan, but it's easy to see why.  ODNR Search site seems to have a few problems when searching.  I'm not sure what other permits may have been issued in Trumbull, but I have been following the Logan Trust well because it's only a mile or so away from me.  Easiest way to find it on the ODNR Search site is to open Downloads and go to "Permit and Plug List" which will then open the Search box...then in the Search box in the Application Issued Date box enter =Equal and 5/18/2011.  Then in the County box enter =Equal and Trumbull.  Then hit "Report" above your entries and the only well that you get will be the Logan well.  Hope that helps...

Ed, do you know where in trumbull Logan well is located?

Yes...it's on St. Rt. 193 about 1/2 mile south of the Trumbull/Ashtabula county line.  No well there yet...or work started on it even...but have been hearing drilling is supposed to start there early in 2012.

Thanks ed, hopefully its productive.

Ed,

The Logan and Keir Trust 8 wells are both Trenton-Black River Limestone wells. They are not Utica Shale wells.

Actually, both the Utica and the Marcellus are just ABOVE the Trenton/Black River strata, so it's obvious that the Utica in the area is their target...

so is it blackriver strata/ trenton or utica? im afraid everyone in this area is getting there hopes up on pure speculation. look at mahoning county and carrol action compared to trumbull. i want facts

The Trenton/Black River strata is the max depth of the wells...the Utica and Marcellus above that strata are the shale layers that are being targeted by these wells.  Leasing/drilling activity north of Mahoning County will either pick up or go bust once these wells (and also the test well permitted in Richmond in Ashtabula County) are drilled and assessed...

hope these wells are productive

In most of the permits the Utica depth is lumped in with the Point Pleasant.

Wow! Relax, I was just stating some concerns. My gosh

Here is link to article from yesterday's vindicator. It clearly staes there hasn't been a single permit issued in Trumbull county for Utica. http://www.vindy.com/news/2011/dec/07/atampt-adds-cell-sites-in-tru... scroll down past part about cellular tower
