I looked in the sky and it is orange. Oh yes I have seen this before only its a lot bigger, what I drove down the road to see was the utica well being flared off on the patterson well. It had to be four or five times the size of the marcellus well flare which was in of itself a pretty good one. This well has a marcellus and a utica on it as a"test well". Looks like they passed the test. It is amazing and really hot from afar. It was raining and so as the flame was taller than the flare pipe, the groud was steaming all arond.

(Thanks Chris Crawley)

"Three new permits for Patterson were issued on 12/7/11..on the PA website

073-20354 is an "M",

073-20352 & 20353 are designated as "D"???

Don't know what the "D" would indicate>>

The two original wells:

1)073-20344 was designated "M" and the second

2) 073-20345 was disignated "U""

Does anyone out there know what strata "D" designates?

M=Marcellus

U=Utica

D=??????????

Devonian?

Anybody heard of a well drilled in this strata before..Is this possibly a third (3rd) source??

Certainly looks like the future is going to be VERY bright for some of our Lawrence Co friends and neighbors!!!!

Has either of the other wells been placed in production??  Looking for some numbers on these in the near future hopefully..

Hopefully we will have an answer today on the "D" question Chris.....I believe Marcellus and Utica are both from the Devonian Era so why would they use a "D" now for these two new wells......?

Can you imagine royalty checks from 5 wells................WOW!

Remember, Range I believe has that well in Butler and I read that they targeted the Black Trenton and they hit.  I know over here in the Ohio Utica, they have also the Point Pleasant, can they be discovering additional sources within the formations and just are refering it as the Devonian?

That would be my guess Ron. Horizontal drilling and fracking evidently have opened up a whole new frontier of possibilities.

On the Kephart permit it says HD and it is a Utica. the word on the street is that Shell will drill Patersons first then Kephart well.

Was wondering if anyone knew if these wells were hooked to the pipeline yet and selling gas.......?

bump

Guys, Don't know if anyone knows about this site but they appear to handle drilling data for some of the drillers in our area. They list the target formation for each well. They have the Patterson Well listed as well as others in Tioga Co done by East/Shell.
