Will it force a higher demand for the gas in our area?

The president stopped this pipeline to appease his envirmentalist wacko friends.  He did not do it to help the US oil industry.  If he wanted to help the US oil industry he would approve off shore drilling and wouldn't be opposing fracing (it was his EPA secretary who said that fracing contaminated water in North Dakota).   He is using the EPA to shut down coal mines that have already had state approvals.  He is not a friend of cheap energy, he is only a friend to green energy.

Amen brother!!!

One thing you are missing, It takes steam to extract the oil from the tar/oil sands of canada, the steam is heated by natural gas. A large %  of that natural gas will be comming from the USA . Trade balance?  Increase price for domstic production? Less chance or the oil going to forgin power? Just afew thoughts

Matthew,  I have read there are a lot of industrial metals in Canada's tar sands.  They heat the shale to extract them but like many shale plays the break even is near cost.  Are they getting two birds with one stone?

There is an existing Keystone pipeline that follows a different route...  Why can't the new pipeline follow the same route, going around the area in question?  There are many links showing the existing and proposed pipelines, here's one of them:

The existing carries 435K barrels per day, the proposed will carry an additional 510K barrels per day. Why is the press not talking about following the same route?

This stinks of dirty politics...  on BOTH sides of the aisle.

Larry

Obama traded this for favors in the Middle East on other issues, thats why he killed it. The fact that Hillary came out with the defining statement says it all.

He killed the drilling in the Southern Ohio State parks to get back at Kasich for not toe-ing the line with him on other issues. That was a power play, period.

No matter what he does, or how many jobs he tanks for this country, he can still count on all the Ohio votes for Prez...

I hope so.

When Obama was elected four years ago, he had a chance to formulate a NATIONAL ENERGY PLAN...he failed to initiate this plan then...and he is still failing. This great country of ours has been blessed with incredible natural resources (OIL& GAS), but we continue to let OPEC drive our economy and continue to transfer our wealth. T. Boone Pickens is correct when he calls our leaders," stupid and ignorant"! Oil and gas independence is ours if we want it...Why don't we have it? That is the question here...and the answer is the crime.

A recent poll indicates that 70% of Ohioans care more about the environment than they 'mythic' jobs promised by the oil industry.  New Wilmington, Pa doesn't seem to be booming as a result of fracking in Pa.  Neither is the Gettysburgh area.

There has not been a well fracked within 20 miles of New Wilmington. And only a couple within 30 miles. And none within probably a hundred miles of Gettysburg.

And people that have been paid for their new leases are spending money in New Wilmington.

Tanya, really. New Wilmington hasn't boomed since the Stage Coach Days! But it will be , again , once deep drilling starts there and the royalties start coming. You'll be marveling at the splendor as mansions are built and illuminated by the latest oil lamp technology!

Tanya! ..............never mind, not worth a response.
