Do private drilling companies have to post their production reports ?

Can any of you guys find the production of some wells in Belmont co. ? Drilled in 2011 by Oxford oil co. Douglas wells, should be three. Jackson wells, should be two. I can't navigate the odnr site at all. Please and thank you.

Production reports for the previous year are filed with ODNR by March 31 of the following year for all producing wells in Ohio. We are soon coming up on reporting for 2011 production.

1509.11 Statement of production of oil, gas and brine.

The owner of any well producing or capable of producing oil or gas shall file with the chief of the division of oil and gas resources management, on or before the thirty-first day of March, a statement of production of oil, gas, and brine for the last preceding calendar year in such form as the chief may prescribe. An owner that has more than one hundred wells in this state shall submit electronically the statement of production in a format that is approved by the chief. The chief shall include on the form, at the minimum, a request for the submittal of the information that a person who is regulated under this chapter is required to submit under the “Emergency Planning and Community Right-To-Know Act of 1986,” 100 Stat. 1728, 42 U.S.C.A. 11001, and regulations adopted under it, and that the division does not obtain through other reporting mechanisms.

Where are they located in Belmont? What twp and section?

i believe they are in sec  31, 32, 33     they are between barnsville and the guernsey co line   close to the line.

I found one Jackson well (34013206160000) in Warren Twp. Sec. 31. The well report is attached but no 2011 production is shown. That will not be reported until March 31 and will not hit the ODNR site until some time later. There are NO other Jackson/Oxford wells in Warren Twp from 1/1/2011 to date.

There are no current wells shown in Sec. 33, only old plugged wells.

thanks finnbear,  the Douglas wells are on the propery next to jackson,  right on the belmont /guernsey line,  there are three, you can see a couple from the road.  im asking because this type of well is what Oxford will be putting on me in the near future, unless i can get out of my lease.

I found 3 Douglass wells in Warren Twp. Sec. 32. (34013206150000, 34013206170000, and 34013206290000). The well reports are attached but no 2011 production is shown. That will not be reported until March 31 and will not hit the ODNR site until some time later.

do you know much about this type of well ?  are these your typical shallow , low production wells ?  or do they make any money ?

Looking at the reports, these wells range from 2280-2400ft deep. These types of wells are generally profitable for the producer or they wouldn't spend the money to drill them. The landowner probably isn't going to get rich off of them, but they should collect some royalties. If their leases allow free gas to a residence/farm, that may be worth more in the long run than the royalties. An interesting thing to note when viewing these reports is the unit size for each. They range from 69 to 114.32 acres. Wells of this depth require 20 acre spacing according to OAC. Oxford has drilled some shallow wells in the general area like this recently that appear to have short horizontal legs. This might explain the large unit size for such shallow wells - maybe Oxford is going to add a horizontal leg in the future. I have heard that Oxford does have some horizontal drilling capacity. They may also be planning to drill more vertical wells on the same leaseholds at a later date.
