Drove by a prepared well pad with a drilling rig setup but not running. The site is on Route 45 north of Route 6 about mile north of Rt. 6 in Rome township. Don't see any permits on ODNR site. Does anybody have information on this well site?

I believe that this well is to be drilled by Enervest. It is permitted as a verticle well only, at this time. Please keep us advised as to the progress of this well. If this well comes in big it will be a huge boost for Ashtabula County values.
From what i have heard they are doing a core sample. So it will be a while before we find something out
but hope it will be good. (Dont live to far from there)
It is on the ODNR web download permit and plug list. Well name is Eaton ( well# 3-5). Under proposed well class it is listed as STRT. That means stratigraphic (exploratory well). The rig was running until Sunday morning. Pad is way to small for horizontal well construction.
Listed target formation (ODNR web) was the Beekmantown which is deeper than the Utica and is a oil and gas producing formation tapped by vertical wells in Ashtabula County, however, I would think they are really most interested in core sampling the Utica. Anyone with info please keep us advised.
Thanks for the responses. Rig was in operation Monday morning. Agree with the assessments. pad size is too small and too close to the road/farm. Existing oil tanks nearby also. Hopefully, the results are excellent. We own property 5 miles to the east....Also two weeks ago, seismic instrumentation was setup to the east of Route193 in Cherry Valley. Gone yesterday when we drove to Andover. Hopefully the results were good here also......We know we (this area) has shallow oil, let's hope deep oil is more abundant......!!

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
