For two days now, there has been an Airplane flying over Lisbon, It travels from the North West to the South East then back, South East to North West. Is this Plane checking for Pipeline routes or is it being used for seismic testing, The plane has a long pole sticking out from its nose and it fly's very low.

Actually, I am hoping they find gold so I can start Cx-Gold

Could be a Navy ASW airplane looking for rogue submarines lurking in cleverly disguised urban shrimp farms!

BluFlame

Saw the plane this morning at about 8:20 SW of COlumbiana.   It is NOT the rabies plane.

It appears to be doing an Aeromagnetic survey.  I checked the USGS website and found that there has never been an "official" aeromagnetic survey done in this area.  I am attaching a map of the areas of northeast Ohio that have been done.  I am not sure who is commissioning this survey, but I would guess that the data will be for sale in the near future....

I guess they are not looking for bigfoot after all..

Last night I looked on Google Earth, The Plane I saw, Was headed in a direction where a new Well pad is going to be. That's what got my attention about this Plane. I was told by a Nomac worker that the Dry hole days are long gone. When Chesapeake sets up a Well pad, They are going to hit something, It's just which direction is the most profitable.

The aeromagnetic surveys are often useful in determining the structure of the basement rocks underlying the sedimentary rock units containing the oil and gas. The basement structure can often provide clues for determining more productive areas to drill.
  • Could you provide a reference where I might learn more about aeromagnetic surveys? I do not have a strong scientific background but  am always trying to learn more. Tormation you Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.

You guy's need to start picking the marijuana patches but likely to late.

Looking for marijuana patches. Get a pick'n but likely to late.

If somebody manages to get the N number, we can look up everything there is to know about that airplane. Watch your local airports. It has to land for fuel somewhwere.
