I know they just signed leases, but everyone on this board and landowners I'm sure would appreciate the information.  I've been told the numbers and that it was a great lease, just trying to figure out why it is so 'hush-hush'?

Can someone tell us what parts of Smith township are included? Thanks for any help.

The deal is for 25k acres with clear title, not 40k.

Rice has a big commitment from Natural Gas Partners Energy Capital Management to fund this venture into Belmont's Utica Shale.

Rice Drilling B LLC is but one arm of Rice Energy.

Rice Drilling D LLC will be producing in Belmont county.

Let's hope Rice tops Gulfports gushers when the bit hits.

Rice did agree last week to take ALL S-g acreage. Today I learned they are seeking more acreage in Belmont in addition to S-G.

As a member of S-G I thank Larry and the board for their hard work and dedication. The lease turned out very well in my opinion. I had attended meetings for over a year and learned all I could and took many notes. My main concern was that being farther north of Smith and Goshen Townships, (in Wheeling Township), and with fewer acres than most (< 5), that I wouldn`t be attractive to an oil company interested in signing with the group. Alot of my area has been signed with Hess. The boilerplate lease Hess was offering was poor to say the least, so I did not sign. At all of the meetings I payed particular attention to any mention of all- inclusive acreage. To me, (and I have to admit, I did miss a few meetings but not many), it was conveyed that this WAS an all-or-nothing lease. Even up until the final few meetings... I got a sense that Larry and the committee may have felt pressure from some members to get a deal done. I applauded their patience but was surprised at the turn of events in the final week. It seemed very rushed at the end and I think one of the consequences of getting a favorable lease was to give up something that they had tried to keep from the beginning, an all-inclusive signing. As a big fan of Larry from the onset I had only wished that he would have been more clear on this from the beginning. From the commitees` viewpoint it may have seemed if they would have stated from the beginning that some acreage could be left out then maybe the signed members would have been far fewer or that many would have signed other leases, leading to less leverage for the group.

Does anybody know how/when Rice intends to inform the landowners that were outside of the "circle that they drew on the map" as to whether or not they will be making a commitment to lease/flip our acreage?  I know they committed (verbally-nothing in writing) to get back to the landowners in 30 days, but they didn't say how.  It wasn’t clear if Rice was going to wait till the end of 30 days and do a mass mailing or if landowners will be contacted individually?  How will we be contacted….by e-mail, letters or phone call?

Does anyone what areas in Smith are included and a contact number for someone not in the group. Thank you very much.

You might try contact Rice Energy directly.  They have a leasing office in St. Clairsville @ 252 W. Main Street,

My understanding is that they took all of Smith Twp for the S-G group, but I cannot say if they will continue to take all acreage or terms they would consider.

I've heard third handed that there is another signing required of the landowners in the s-g group (sat. 8th & Monday). According to Larry they r having trouble sending out e-mails... You may or may not have gotten one. If what I heard is true you may want to contact s-g tomorrow. I'm going to call them in the am to find out what's going on. It has something to do with the letter of intent...and hopefully will include everyone???

Per Larry this AM, ALL S-G members are included now.

What if you are not a member, any contact help would be so appreciated. Thank you so much.
