According to Reuters, the company will market acreage in the Marcellus region, in order to focus more on its core drilling operations in Texas:

Investors took control of the Chesapeake board in June. Reining in spending is now a top priority for the company, which faces a gap of about $4 billion this year between its expected cash flow and capital expenditures.

To help cover that shortfall, Chesapeake has pledged to sell up to $7 billion in oil and gas properties this year. So far, it has closed or signed deals totaling $1.5 billion, Dixon said, adding that there has been good interest in some of the company’s smaller asset packages.

Not yet, at least not on an across the board level. Individual wells have had parts 'sold' off to a partner. Check out the BC website and you can see for yourself. Example is the Rolling Acres well, they partnered with an outfit from NY for almost half of the production if memory serves me right. Others have Chesapeake Utica as a partner now with Chesapeake themselves. I'm sure there are others as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of them are sold off in the future.

To answer your initial question Frank... I pray that they do.

Nope... they're selling 94k oily acres in Stark and Portage Counties, Ohio around Canton.

Any info out there yet for the sale of Beaver or Handcock county leases? Sure seems quiet lately...Beaver and Hancock County WV are starting to look like a donut hole in the drilling...

Gary - my property in in sw Beaver County. There currently is no infrastructure in place at all. The residents have to either have electric heat or a Propane tank out back.
We signed to have Seitel do seismic this summer. It's hearing up - the large land grab is over.

I work at South Side school district. A HS student who lives on Noll Road told me that a gas company purchased a large piece of property for a pad and then a compressor station near his home.
At this point that is all rumor. But considering my property is about two miles away - I hope it's true!

CHK gettin ever so close to selling us:

EQT to Acquire Additional Marcellus Acreage and Wells

PITTSBURGH, PA

(May 3, 2013) -- EQT Corporation (NYSE: EQT) today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement for the purchase of roughly 99,000 net acres in southwestern Pennsylvania and 10 horizontal Marcellus wells, located in Washington County, PA, from Chesapeake Energy Corporation and its partners for approximately $113 million, subject to closing conditions. The acreage includes 67,000 Marcellus acres and 32,000 dry Utica acres. Of the total purchase price, $60 million is allocated to the undeveloped acreage, while the remaining $53 million is for the existing Marcellus wells. The transaction is expected to close on May 30, 2013.

The acquisition includes approximately 25,000 acres within EQT's core Marcellus development areas of Washington, Greene, and Allegheny counties. This core acreage is conducive to development through the Company's preferred use of multi-well pad drilling and extended laterals. The remaining 42,000 Marcellus acres are unlikely to be developed due to near-term lease expirations or a scattered footprint.

Three of the 10 Marcellus wells are currently producing, and the remaining seven will be turned in line by year-end 2013 – adding approximately 1.0 Bcfe of sales volume. These existing wells have an average lateral length of 4,200 feet and in total represent about 54.0 Bcfe of proved developed reserves.

Upon close of the transaction, EQT anticipates drilling four wells on the new acreage in late 2013. This acquisition will not have a significant impact to EQT's 2013 capital budget or sales volume guidance, which was recently increased to 340 – 350 Bcfe.

jason not sure where noll road is but have talked to a few of range resources landmen  very recently may 21 st the most recent and they have been talking to CHK people to aquire leases in hanover township both beaver and washington as well as greene in beaver county THEY view this area as the new hickory thats why they are having seitel do a follow up seismic testing been paying very close attention to what we have talking about in fact THE vice president of range resources had a big meeting with barry osbourne of range(vice-president of land out of houston pa) in regards to this area that meeting was held on the17th of may if I  am not mistaken this meeting involved all the big wigs up at the houston head quarters we've had mutiple surveyors going up and down the roads outside of frankfort springs pipe line routers where almost as common as deer around here about a month or so ago they are getting ready to do something maybe a lot sooner than we all think the way I understood it CHK is land broke and they want to concentrate on upper beaver county where as range  wants to concentrate on washington and parts of beaver county they're playing chess with our parcels of land folks question for todd when where they planning to sesmic your property??  got to go   mark

Can't thank you enough for that information. My land is off the road along Hardins Run off 168. Seitel came out in Jan and Feb. said it was to be done within 18 months. Haven't received the 350 dollar check yet - but not worried about it. I just hope they find a LOT of gas in the ground.
My lease is with CHK and doesn't expire until 2017 - but I would gladly inite RR to acquire my lease. I'd be much better off.
The Noll road info may in fact be Mack hollow which is further south on Hardins run.
Keep the info coming. This is great news!

Jason I hope that you take all information with a grain of salt the info I posted is verbatm after weeks of talking with range  (Lease) we finally inked the deal kind of anti-climatic One  of tidbits of info they are thinkng seriously of bringing in 2 drilling rigs and hop-scotch through our area I know of 2 neighbors that have well(s) proposed to them no cash in hand just talk but range has been quietly talking to CHK since mid- feb still the infasruture problem remains(pipelines) range is very firm about wells NOT being drilled until routes have been established TO GeT THE PIG TO MARKET can't blame them finally a business strategy that I can understand  I figure if 2 rigs show up it will be to HBP for any leases that will expire A point of curosity for me what did they offer/promise/pay per acre ??  If I understand there game they show up with check in hand if they are interested in makng the earth shake but we are not that interested in having strangers on our property doing what they want We attended one of those lawer meetings (SHALE ADVICE) TOWNSEND AND BRINK law group at hanover firehall (beaver) I think it was mid april (days kind of melted all together) rep  from seitel was there said they were active in our area and would be until the end of summer I am assumng you have a surface lease ? I hope it all works out You know what I say DRILL BABY DRILL  lol hey got to go   mark

Hey Mark,

My property was HBP'ed last year by CHK in the first and, currently, the only unit in Hancock County off of Hardins Run Rd only 2 miles west of Beaver County.  So, the seismic testing is history.  Glad to hear that things are stirring nearby.

Keep the info coming!

Mark - a woman named Kim from seitel came to my farm. She had a piece of paper which was the lease to do seismic. I took it and reviewed it but needed specific language in it like 24 hours notice due to having horses.
A good friend of mine near Avella said that unless all the workers who would be on his property had clear background checks - he wasn't going to sign. Very smart man - has secluded property, a beautiful wife and growing girls.
They never gave him the clearances.
I signed for $5-acre. Not worried about the upfront money. I figured this is a necessary evil. I teach so ill be there when they come through to show them my natural springs and gate locations.
Thanks for the info.

Mark where are you located..I heard that there are wells proposed by Range on Old Mill Creek rd..between rt 30 and rt 168..my lease expired with Range in April and I have requested a release but have not heard anything from them..how much are they offering for a lease now?..I think Range wants this area due to them saying this area is super rich (high BTU content in the wet gas)..I also went to the the Shale Advice meeting and they said that Consol and Penn Energy are in the area looking.. has any on talked with them?
