Looks like WV is getting a cracker plant to be placed in Wood County. Here is a link:

Yea. That came out after the original info. I don't think they would have made the announcement unless it was pretty far along and somewhat certain, but who knows. I wonder how this effects the PA cracker project. I was told that the WV project was to put the plant in Washington, WV, about 10 miles south of Parkersburg, along the river.

IMHO the trick is during open season, who bags the most game.

Wow

This is very good news for the southern part of the play in Ohio for sure - if it happens of course.  The above article/ link is pretty optimistic.  I would venture to say that this is not only good news for Washington County in Ohio but also for the future longer-term prospects for Athens and Meigs counties in Ohio as well.

Somebody email these clowns and tell them to take a reading comprehension course.  It is a PROPOSED plant, doing a FEASIBILTY STUDY, EXPLORING THE POTENTIAL......

This kinda stuff drives me nuts......

I would imagine they have done much of their "feasibility study" and have "explored the potential" by now regardless  of what they say. The land deal is pretty much done from what I hear.  I don't think the Gov. would have stuck his political neck out like that if it wasn't pretty certain. Again, only guessing. I am still wondering how two cracker plants would exist within 200 miles of each other?

Gov Corbett of Pa made a huge deal about the Shell plant two years ago...and nothing has been finalized yet. One article on the WV  plant states they need to look at financing, regulations and "state cooperation"...meaning tax incentives. They need to get commitments from ethane suppliers. There will be huge issues with roads, power, water, sewer, rail and more that all need studied in detail.

This announcement was made for several reasons. First and foremost is political. Make the gov look good and pressure other state and local governments to offer tax incentives and regulatory relief. Two more are to build public support and measure the strength of any opposition. Others are to see how suppliers and contractors respond. And you can't do all that is needed without word getting out so its best to be up front about the plans instead of being at the mercy of the rumor mill.

I hope the both are built. I think there is both enough ethane and enough demand for ethylene but it will at least a year before the decision on this plant is made. IMO

One of the major selling points of the site is that infrastructure is already in place from GE Plastics and it has DuPont as a neighbor.  It is far from a done deal but it is not a green field site by any means.

no doubt.. Brazilian Company... probably with our Govts money..  no land purchased yet.. nothing concrete Yet.... why the heck would they announce it..??

read the story...

Makes you wonder just how rich is our shale (s)......?!

If they are worried about getting enough gas, we have 2500 unleased acres in Pleasants, just 30 miles north of where they plan on putting the plant. I am going to be the first to show my support by letting someone buy every bit of gas from our land. Just need to find the phone number of who to call...............lol
