XTO has applied for "Inactive Status" well permits for a couple of wells drilled a little over a year ago. The Quinn and Zacherl well inactive permits for instance are pending. Would this be because of the pipeline and compressor station not being completed?

FMV,

The (Rex) Lynn well is in production and pushing it to Hicks road (XTO) They put in a compressor on the well site to move it, it's behind the sound fence that's hiding it. Mark West couldn't get a pipeline in towards their Jackson Twp plant in time, so Rex put in a little spur to the XTO line that goes to the Hicks Rd plant. The Stebbins well is in the Burkett shale, I guess they're trying see what they actually have and where. The pipeline is done for the Stebbins well by Mark West and goes from Meridian Rd to Brownsdale Rd and heads towards Rte 68 where it's connected into existing pipelines. I haven't heard about Lynn to Stebbins, could you expand on that?  Thanks

The link should take you to the DEP eNotice site. They will email you whenever there is any activity in the permitting process for what ever area you choose. Lynn to Stebbins is in the works by MarkWest. No exact route for the ROW is there. (still trying to figure out how to get the "plats" for pipelines)

That explains the Lynn to XTO that I saw.

In my travels I am by the Lynn well once in a while and was curious why the "sound" fence was still up. Now I know. lol

Have you heard any results on the Stebbins. Just curious on how good the Burkett is.

Cheers

LewPA, FMV,

I noticed the pipeline leaving the Lynn.  Could not understand why it was so small.  I wondered about the soundproofing as well.  Now I know – thanks for the info!.  That pipeline enters the XTO pipeline after the Rutledge compression plant so, eventually, compression will be needed on the Lynn pad.  XTO is not currently running any compression and the gathering system is at about 1000psi now.  I have heard two different numbers for the gathering system pressure when the compressors start up: 170 psi and 250 psi.  Since they are running the plant at 1000 psi now, I assume something like that will be the compressor to plant line pressure.

How did the Lynn pad get its name?  For that matter, How did the Stebbins get its name – it looks to be on Gumto property?

Maybe the Lynn pad will just stick with the XTO connection?  The Stebbins is hooked into the new Mark West line that runs down to the McCormack pad along Brownsdale Road.

Phil

Phil, FMV,

Stebbins was named after property that is in the northeast corner of the unit. Stebbins owned it in the 90's for sure, don't know if it is under new ownership. Maybe it is the oldest of the leases that Rex acquired that are in the unit. The well is on Gumto's property. The well is either just coming on line or very close to it. They are reclaiming now the 8 million gallon some water pond that they just dug this summer. Dug it out, seeded it, put a fence around it, put a liner in it, used it for trucked in water, and now they're filling it in and going to seed the area again!! FMV, no wonder you can't get a real offer for your lease!! I guess that would mean Rex isn't going to drill on this pad again for quite a while. The pipeline from the Lynn to Stebbins well was talked about last spring but I thought since these other pipelines are in that was the end of it. Who knows I'm just a mushroom, it's hard to figure out what and why they do a lot of things. LewPa

Lew, Phil,

I seem to recall that there is some state requirement that the retention ponds are to be "temporary". Stebbins being in the Burkett - Rex most likely will not be back for a while. Just checking out the Burkett apparently. Their plate is pretty full right now getting some wells drilled to HBP a lot of their acreage.

According to their last presentation and conference call that is the plan for about the next 2 years. By then they will be ready to start taking advantage of the infrastructure (pads, pipelines , etc).  IMHO, Rex is proceeding in a very logical fashion - not getting way ahead of themselves  like Chesapeake for example.

As far as getting a "real offer" - I am fairly confident it will come when they get close enough to want to put me in a unit.  Next year, maybe 2. Just a waiting game right now.

Cheers

Can anyone share where and how to obtain the unit designations? Or have one for the Stebbins well you can share? Thanks

Stebbins Unit.

Oddly, the Stebbins property is not in the unit???

I have an old county map 3F-49 from 1995 that shows Gary M. Stebbins owning 13.53 acres which part of it would be in the present unit. It would be parcel # 20 on the unit map. It must of gotten sub-divided because the parcel is 4.71 acres now. Maybe Stebbins still own the mineral rights or the present owners are relatives and requested that it be named that??? LewPa

GM,

You can get any unit designations by going to the Butler County Recorder's site and doing a simple search. Type in r e gas, or xto, or other gas company's name and click "Detail Data", then scroll down until you find what you are looking for. Or search for a known landowner's name who is in the unit.

Thank you!

GM,

Sorry that I forgot to list the source of the Unit declarations.  Oliver Perry has you covered – thanks Commodore!

I always enter the name of someone I think is in the Unit.  To get an exact name I first go here open the map and navigate to the vicinity of the well pad.  You have to zoom in pretty close before the propertly lines appear.  The Identify button (“i” inside a blue circle) will allow you to click on a property and see who owns it etc.  For example, to get the Stebbins Unit declaration I zoomed into the area around the intersection of Beacon Road and Meridian Road (Penn Twsp), opened the Identify function and clicked on what I thought was the Gumto property and it turns out to be Erich Gumto.  Most of the time you need the last and the first name or there are just too many options at the Recorder’s website.

Phil

FMV, LewPa,

The retention ponds can remain in place for 5 years (I was told).  Gumto may have a separate arrangement with Rex to remove the pond.  In the big $ scheme of things I don’t think it is too expensive to put in or remove a pond.

FMV – are you referring to the Rex second quarter conference call?

It does seem that things are moving slowly around here – both Rex and XTO.  This week’s RigData Location & Operators report shows one XTO rig and no Rex rigs operating in Butler County.  The report sometimes misses a rig but by any measure this is slow.  Green County has 7 rigs and Washington County has 8 rigs.  Meanwhile, SWEPI shows up only in Tioga County.  Northeast PA is still very busy and Ohio is off the charts.

Leasing wise, I think the big exchange of properties that took place between XTO and Rex last April/May has given both companies a lot of potential units to get drilled or lose.  XTO went to $1000 and 15% as their standard offer a few months ago and now I see that is where Rex is as well.  I know that Rex did a few $3000+ @ 15% deals for large tracts over the last few month but we may not see that again for awhile.

Regards,

Phil
