Here are a couple books which have gotten some good press. The first I found through a posting on the GoHaynesvilleShale site, thanks to Aubrey Sanders. The second I found through the Marcellus Drilling News site (which by the way is a great site for Marcellus drilling, but costs $6 per month)
First: The Frackers: The Outrageous Inside Story of the New Billionaire Wildcatters by George Zimmerman
People who have read this on that site, say it is a great book. I just got the kindle edition for $11.
Second: Beyond the Fracking Wars: A Guide for Lawyers, Public Officials, Planners, and Citizens by
Erica Levine Powers, Beth E. Kinne
This book was put out by the American Bar Association, but was written for laymen as well as lawyers. It also has good press. I went through the TOC and it looks really interesting. Check both out on Amazon. This one is rather expensive at $100, but probably worth it to us who are interested.
It's kind of funny. Today I was going to put up a posting asking for some recommendations for good books on the subject and then these two hit me in the face by chance. Must be fate.

Jim; both sound like interesting but $100 sounds a bit much. Maybe wait until its in library. Or convince an attorney to buy and the borrow it. Thanks for the info
It'd be really nice if someone who owned the $100. book and no longer needed it, would sell it back to a bookstore who could then sell it on--our local bookstore does this a lot, and it really helps those of us who just can't come up with the price. (Tioga County, Wellsboro bookstore, From My Shelf Books) Of course, it's possible the bookstore couldn't swing it, either....
Jim,
Some of my post were stimulated with facts I learned from The Frackers.
Zuckerman laid it all out for us and from its short history, we are preapred to navigate this great Utica play.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
