Does anyone know when drilling will start in southern Beaver County (Independence, Raccoon, Greene, Hanover, twps.)? It seems drilling is happening all around us, but nothing in southern Beaver County

I suspect (but don't know) that the Liberato well site is going to be connected to the South Beaver gathering line which has been in the permitting process for some time now. They are calling it the S Beaver line, because it will service the Southern part of beaver county, not because it goes to south beaver twp (which it doesn't), fwiw.
Sorry Todd, but it is listed as being in Ohioville and Industry. I would doubt they would drill under the Ohio to bring those wells up N here.
Not sure where the NGL pipelines will be located, except one is the line that came N under the Ohio.

We need to keep things in perspective. Remember that there probably 100 years of drilling. Producers will not drill everywhere at once - and sometimes they just drill one or two wells to hold leases beyond the primary term. Naturally, they will drill first where, based upon what they know, they can get richest quickest.
The three producing wells In Beaver County are the Thompson, Tharp, and Burdock. From the production numbers and the locations these look like dry Utica wells. Does anyone know what shale they are producing?
Phil
Philip,
You are correct - all 3 are dry Utica wells.
Todd
Yes, they are calling them dry gas, however I know (two sources) that Dominion quit taking the gas from the thompson well about 1 1/2 yrs ago because the btu's were too high. One check stub I saw from back around then showed the btu's as 1040 on the gas they were selling, and they prefer no more than 1000 I understand. Regardless it is not really wet. I am supposed to have some current check stubs with pertinent info on them in the near future. I'll post info if/when they show up.
I believe, as some others do, there's alot more under our feet than just the Utica.
Think about it... they drill the dry gas, hold all leases and formations and pipeline right of ways. Then build out the infrastructure to sell the dry gas. When they are ready to drill the other plays, it is drill and sell.... everything is ready, including the cracker plant. In my opinion this is just the beginning folks and 3 years from now we will really know what is really under us.
I agree whole heartedly Craig.
The number of landing points that I'm already seeing is impressive:
Already 3 landing points drilled in the Upper Devonian - Rhinestreet, Genesee and Burket in Beaver County. These are wet.
Marcellus - wet
Utica/PP/Trenton Limestone is very thick with multiple potential landing points - 300' thick Utica at a depth of about 8000' - that's very similar to the dry gas Marcellus thickness and depth in Bradford and Susquehanna Counties, PA - the most prolific Marcellus wells. Check out MCOR maps:

I have a more extensive list of landing points if anyone is interested, btw.
Todd, do you mind sharing the other landing points you have?
Thanks
26 formations targeted by Shell - see new discussion I started.
From a Southern Beaver County perspective, the McMichael pad looks very interesting with its Rhinestreet and Marcellus wells. That pad is very close to Range's stuff in Washington County, coutd they take the wet gas in that direction?
Phil

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
