Another question. New to this.. Stat oil Just startinga well close to us and I'm worried that we're not in the production unit. It's like in our neighbors field. Not sure how feet away. Just very very close. It's the company we signed up with 5 years ago. I asked them if we were in the production unit and they said 99 percent sure. Does that mean we should be getting something in the mail and also I'm concerned there going to come under and drain my gas and still and not put me in the production unit.

Go to your local city building, in the records department, there should be paperwork on file on who is declared under the production well. Our city building had it listed under the well pads name. they showed maps of who's property was declared under the production unit. Also, when the landman starts coming around asking you to verify property ownership, you know your under a well.

I'm sorry. All new to this.. What would be my local city building. Would that be the court house? If so what department. There's tons of diff departments there. I even called our attorney and they didn't even know where to find out.
I don't understand why the drilling company keeps saying there 99% sure when I've called and asked the leasing company and they tell me 99 percent sure were in...That's sounds strange to tell someone....why did they tell me this..
Pat,

What county are you in?
It would be the courthouse. You would have a "declaration of a pooled unit" on your deed.
Everyone that is in the pooled unit will have one on their deed.
If they are just starting, then it may take a little time to show up at the courthouse.
Is the pad in? If it is and you know the name of the landowner the pad is on, look up that name on the ODNR. If you can't figure out their website since its awful, just write the ODNR and ask for the well drawing. Give them the name of the landowner, which should be the name of the well.
If it shows a well drilled on that pad, then a unit plat should be listed.
This will only show the mineral owners names that is in that well plat drawing, not the whole unit.
Monroe county

Yes the Courthouse, go to your records department, where they record Birth, Death, Marriage, Title transfers, Etc. I'm in Ohio Co, WV and all our records are now on a computer. I just type in the name of the well pad and the info came up, with maps where the wells will go, and they lists the names of the people who have property under the well. I would have to think that once they declare a well, that they have to notify the county. This is all public info.

On the deeds it will show everyone included in the "pooled unit" (decimal interest owners) not just who is under the well.
Yes Charlotte.. I agree......we signed on 4 years ago at 100 bucks an acres. Now everyone is getting 5000 an acres. We thought this was very wrong what happened. Now there's a well going up like probably three football fields away from us and we don't even know if we're in production unit. Where do I go on this website what you was talking about a ODNR?

In Ohio, The RECORDER's Office are where records, such as deeds are documented and centralized.

May or may not be in the County Courthouse, depending on County.

Pretty interesting place for the history of a locality, beyond the practical nature of searching for business purposes.

That's what I needed. Thanks..recorders office....

You have to look for yourself. If it's up to the gas co you will know nothing until after the fact. Here's how my situation went.

2008 - signed lease with Ches.

2011 - Ches. sells lease to Southwestern. No notification. I found it on Landex. That is a document company that some counties in Pa use. Any document filed in the courthouse that has my name on it I can find using Landex.

Nov 2012 - Apr. 2013  I watch them build the road, pad and drill the well. I find out myself that I do belong to a production unit, using Landex again.

My research finds the well came on line May 23, 2013

I start looking for division orders to come in the mail.

Dec 27, 2013 Royalty check shows up for 5.3 months worth.

Feb. 17, 2014 Division orders finally show up

It does seem messed up that we are left not knowing things.

Kevin, did they try to modify your lease with new terms in the division order?
