$15,000 per acre

was told today buy a friend of mine that someone he knows is selling 40 acres of mineral rights in Harrison county (clendening lake area) for 15000 an acre for an old 12,5% lease. anyone heard offers like this?

Not really.... 150 acres.

Sad thing is 3mil is a lot of money, but truly isnt worth selling for. Especially when other formation could be at play for the future. With that amount of acreage you could set up your family for atleast another generation if correctly managed. Good luck!

the 3 mil is now and could set up a family for generations also if invested correctly. nothing is for sure until its in your bank account.

My take on cash in your pocket now is, what will it be worth in 30 years compaired to the income of minerals. The income off your mineral wealth will always be indexed to inflation (if not leading inflation if O&G are still leading the inflationary tendencies and not taken into the inflation equation) you may always stay ahead of inflation when your income is tied to a commodity). On the other hand if you put 2014 dollars in the bank and we get a seventies dose of inflation, you may loose a good portion of that wealth over thirty years. If you put it in the market, your making a different bet but still tied to inflation. JMO.

Thanks Buckeye nice of you to notice hahaha...but seriously i will sell at a certain price but until then the area is hot so ill wait it out until offers go higher or i end up in a unit.

Either wait for a unit or your current lease to expire and go for a better lease next round. I got a little over 2yrs left on my lease till my 5yrs are up. I figure with infrastructure still needed placed and processing plants. I could be in a great position for my next lease. Time can only tell
