I got mail today wanting permission to do seismic tests on our 35 acres. We are under lease and I see no reason to go forward for $5 an acre. As I understand, they do make a bit of a mess getting the equipment in and out (all our property is woods). Am I wrong???

So I too have gotten a mailing of this nature (it was from Cougar Land Services). So when exactly does one get paid? Will they (Cougar) pay before they do the geo blasting?
They won't unless you contract for payment upfront. One seismic co. is in bankruptcy court now.
We had Cougar Land Services as well I believe. No fuss, no muss, no mess. They hit a small tree and broke it. Gave us number to call to get reimbursed for it. It was too close to our driveway anyway so no problem. They were very nice, respectful young men. They used our driveway which is longer than most of our neighbors to access several open fields behind the houses on our street. They asked to park vehicle behind our house, which is back away from the road, at night so no one could see it or tamper with it. We said that was fine. They did not work on Saturday but did work on Sunday but we had no problem with that. The young men said the owner observed the Sabbath on Saturday not Sunday so that was how they worked Sunday thru Friday.
did any of you try to get more than the $5 an acre?

But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
