Markwest and the Youngstown Southern (?) Railroad right of way

Some time back here on GMS there was a thread pertaining to the Columbiana County Port Authority selling this railroad right of way to , I believe , Markwest. I tried to search for this thread without success. The spur that runs east into PA to Darlington is part of this. Anyhoo , is there anyone in the know who has any updates on this development that could get us up to speed? I see it as an especially important piece to the infrastructure puzzle in southern Lawrence , Beaver , Columbiana , and Mahoning counties. Markwest is currently constructing a pipeline from Harmony,PA to VanPort,PA and it crosses this railroad row in Darlington. Any information on this would be much appreciated.

Darlington seems out of the way for a Harmony-Vanport pipeline.  I know they have to/want to avoid the towns along the rivers, but seems way too far NW of a loop, unless it is more of a gathering line - trying to pick up many wells along the way.  Vanport is an interesting endpoint- across the river from the Shell Cracker site...

Interesting that it crosses this RR row which terminates at the Ohio River also. It is a liquids pipeline of two lines initially from what I've heard.
Is there a "lid" on this info or was it a bogus report to begin with....?
Ron I believe it was you who educated us to this tidbit some time ago.

Trapper,  Sorry, I was busy standing up for my brothers in Trumbull!

Yes, I am cognizant of this project insofar as Markwest purchase of the rail for $3.4 Million I think.

We own industrial property along this rail and I am very interested in the purpose of the purchase too.  However, I have not heard anything on the Youngstown end of this rail.  Could you please post the pipeline map that you are talking about in PA so we all can make some sense, thanks Trapp!

Thanks Ron. I haven't seen a map of the line but see it's construction in progress in Beaver County. Franklin Twp.,North Sewickley,Big Beaver,Darlington. What I find interesting is that it crosses this RR spur outside Darlington. Can't help but think it is part of a bigger plan. The old Darlington Brick yard property may be involved as well but this would need researched to verify. This spur was used by the brick yard I believe.

Trapper,

Probably the MarkWest ethane pipeline from MW Bluestone to Mariner West shown here:

Since the Mariner West goes right by the (proposed) Shell cracker plant in Monaca, PA this would also be a route for Rex and XTO ethane to the cracker.  Right now, Mariner West goes to Sarnia, Ontario to feed cracker plants there.

Phil

Thank you Phil.

This has to be the line under construction now but it isn't drawn accurately on this map. What is being built is actually further north  , entering Beaver County in Franklin Twp. and running west through North Sewickle and Big Beaver to Darlington and , I have heard , turning south to Vanport.
