Has anyone heard about the production of wells in Monroe County area? I know that we have the most wells in Ohio but I am interested in the production level. I live right on the Ohio River North of Ormet Corp. Near me I have heard as little as 13.00 per year and as much as 1700.00 per day royalties (a little hard to believe that one!!). I also would like any information on companies drilling here. I have been approached by PC Explorations. Has anyone dealt with them?

I did sign....however I have not received my check so obiously have not cashed it. I dont know if it is too late. I only got 100.00 per acre. I live right on route 7 about 2 miles north of Ormet. I have 30 acres...rahlitman@hotmail.com. Do you think its too late for me to negotiate if I havent cashed the check?
Probably, but you could check with a lawyer.
First time in group and I have property in Southern Belmont Co. and I was approched by a company that has a satellite office in St. Clairsville. The first contract he handed me was $50.00 acre and 12% of net. I want 16% of gross. (Be careful with the net and gross and how it is stated on the contract). My problem is what is the going rate to lease your ground. I know I am being lowballed by the gas company. The research that I have done tells me that price should be up around 500.00 to 1000.00 a acre on a 5 year lease. I will hate to sign a contract and find out a year from now the gas company screw me.
Fill free to pass any additional information my way. If you wish to contact me by phone my number is 724-689-3035
I would say that is extremely low! I know of a group signing in Monroe County and the offer is at $2,000/acre and 15.5% royalty gross. Are you in a land group or by yourself? What company made the offer?
We have 140 acres in Malaga Township/ Monroe County Ohio with full oil and gas rights included-no leases what so ever at this time. We do not however have the rights to the # 8 vein of coal.
Word around is that American Energy Corp is considering longwall under the farm sometime in the next 5 - 10 years. According to some, The owner of American Energy "Bob Murray" has some sort of drilling ban or at least some form of penalty for anyone drilling through his coal in Malaga Township. We have never heard any facts from any authorities on the subject thus far, just feed mill rumors and small town gossip, which we have learned to take with a grain of salt.
The questions that we have are as follows:
(1) Is there much chance that anyone will want to lease the lands in Malaga Township of Monroe County Ohio for Marcellus Shale drilling anytime in the next year or two? The townships to our east are under lease already, but the cubic ft of natural gas per square mile to the east is said to be higher than it is to the west.
(2) Will the Underground Coal Company (American Energy Corp.) have any effect on the desire of any marcellus drilling company to lease land in Malaga Township?
Any factual information will certainly be appreciated.

Mr. Crowe
Mr. Crow, the leasing is all a big question mark right now and I cannot comment on Malaga Twp. Some landowners in a group nearby us had a bonus offer of 2K per acre about two weeks ago. This ballgame is just beginning and the Texas Tea Value is a factor in leasing for our area. I assume your mineral rights are a valuable asset at your location due to some confidential information I viewed in September. David R Hill Drilling is currently drilling a well to the Unitca in Belmont County and they are looking for something besides gas. Another company is also drilling their first well to the Utica in PA, for which the records will be kept confidential. To answer question number one, I cannot predict what will be drilled and where. IF you are interested in selling your mineral Rights, there is a market for those. I suggest you get together with you adjacent land owners and talk.

In regard to your question about drilling in areas where the coal has not yet been removed, I suggest you contact the OH DNR "Mineral Resources" group to get the correct for your question. You may contact them by email or look on their web site and get the telephone number. They are great people who will provide you a factual answer. I recently asked them a similar question and they provided me all the information I needed. I do know there is an issue with drilling in the coal areas, but they should provide you all the answers.
Mr. Burgess, Thank you for your reply. We appreciate the answers and direction that you have provided us. We'll follow through and let you know what we find out.
