Just heard from a friend who is a landman and he stated that his company was selected by Total to review leases that Chesapeake took in Ohio after the JV with Total and were back dated. So far they have discovered many leases dated Oct. 31, 2011 but were notarized in late November and December. According to him the per acre prices would be much lower for Total with the back dated leases then the price with them would be.
The funny thing about this is that he used to be a landman for Chesapeake working in Ohio until they laid him off. He said he is well aware of this practice by Chesapeake.
Anyone else heard this?

Have not heard prior of your specific. But no member here would be surprised at any unscrupulous practice by Chesapeake. It's a lawless, immoral, criminal outfit. And this is something that's been shown and proven over and over and over again, anywhere Chesapeake operates.
I agree Frank and cannot believe that are allowed to run rough shod over everyone like they are. I sure would like to see them fail or get bought out by a legitimate company.
Man, when even the French have the stones to investigate you you know you've done messed up.
I should know more after Saturday. Spoke with my buddy Gary today and I am having dinner and catching an NCAA game in Cleveland with him on Saturday. Got tickets from my boss. He's the one that told me about the issues, hope he has more info. He also thinks it may be used to force the stock price down and set Chesapeake up for a take over by Andarko. He believes it is Andarko because Lawler who took over from McClenden is from Andarko and has replaced all of McClendens cronies with people from Andarko.
I will let you know what I find out this weekend.
Gary is an independent landman now and was an independent working for chesapeake 4 years ago. He stated that it will likely be no big deal as they signed many leases where the date on the first page of the lease was days if not weeks prior to the notarized signing of the lease. Guess we will have to wait for something else to put chesapeake in its place.
The game was awesome even though ND lost.
Don't get too excited about a takeover, the ceo sets the standards for his company.
Doug Lawler is responsible for the theft being conducted by CHK since he is the ceo.
A few convictions in court will put Mr Doug where he belongs, behind bars. That is my goal and it should be the goal of every landowner that has received a royalty from CHK, because all of you have been stolen from.
No argument, Ron. But there is widespread apathy throughout that group of CHK royalty owners, and Lawler knows it. Being stolen from is not as big a deal for them as it is (and rightly so) for you.
I think a great many CHK royalty owners are Republicans. And likened to animals, Republicans today lie on their backs, expose their necks in a show of submission and surrender, and beg their adversaries please, please, please not to attack them. Most Republicans are frightened, disgusting cowards. There is no fight from which they can retire sufficiently quickly.
I agree with you Ron. There was a slight hope that lawler would "do the right thing" after replacing mcclendon. Unfortunately they are cut from the same cloth.
I spoke to a buddy and he called the landman that signed him up and he said chesapeake had laid them off and hired another broker. Makes me wonder if chesapeake is playing roulette with the landmen in an attempt to confuse us, the land owners.
I agree Frank, it's not all of this or that. Both parties have sullied the waters of late.
I write as a staunch Conservative, Ben. I left the Republican Party over ten years ago, when a Republican fool wanted to put Harriet Miers on the Court. Boy, did I make the right decision. It's very tough today to discern any difference between cowardly Republican leadership and the Democrats.
Unlike Republicans generally, Ron is a fighter. My point to him was merely that his fellow CHK royalty owners, all meek, remind me of Republicans . . and many probably ARE Republicans. What a bunch of cowards!!

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
