I am a little confused about the access for pipeline ROW. Do these access roads normally run alongside of the actual ROW when doing the actual trench digging?

On my property that pipeline will have to go right up a very steep pitch.  It is not so very long but is timbered. Logging tractors have used it mostly to bring tops and logs down. But to go back up these tractors were allowed to cross on to another person's property to back to the timber and logs. However it was quite a long trip back.

I am presuming they will start from the eastern most well and do the trenching to the west..  Maybe I could convince them to put their access road up that steep pitch at angle across the pitch instead right straight up the hill. That idea would work for me.

Look for ingress and egress in your ROW agreement. The boilerplate ROW will pretty much give them access anywhere (within reason?)! Hopefully your ROW has "ingress and egress shall be within and along" and "any separate access shall be in writing".
