I received a letter from Leverage Energy Ohio yesterday.  They are having an "informative"  meeting regrading the Spectra Nexus pipeline.  Refreshments and a raffle are being offered.  No other details about who this company is.

I think I can guess who they are representing, but I am curious if anyone has any info.  A google search did not turn up anything.  They have a local phone number but no address is listed.  (google search of the phone number shows that this person has a 2005 Corvette with a custom paint job for sale).

You're welcome.

Exactly what personal attacks are you referring to, Joe Bezel? Seems to me that the community at Go Marcellus can think and read for themselves where the attacks are coming from. This thread was started by Indiana, who asked if anyone knee about my company. Mike Murphy obviously did not, so I set the record straight. One question I have for both of you. Where do you stand on Nexus, or any other pipeline for that matter? Support or Oppose? Your comments suggest that you were not interested in answering Indiana's question based on fact, but to tell her to "beware." Beware of what? Twice as much money from the energy company? If you oppose pipelines, then your antics make sense. Your motive is to stop fossil fuel energy and you will do whatever you can to stop it. Unfortunately, you can't. Landowners need to know that all that hype doesn't amount to a hill of beans. Nexus and any FERC certificate holder WILL exercise Eminent Domain and construct their line. Period. Landowners who don't get paid now, will lose in the end. One last question. Do you both consider yourselves as landowner advocates? I am still trying to figure out how you are helping?

guess your proven yourself you said you would not be back to comment anymore .....but your back ........guess that make your word somewhat dishonest ...........your in I to fill your pocket with landowners money because anyone with a bit of sense would not sign a contract and not have their own attorney review the contract before signing it .....so you want to get payed and then the landowner pay for their own attorney to review what you present them nothing more then a middleman trying to get your fingers in the pot........I have dealt with people like you before ..........still trying to figure out how many landowners you have helped in the 5 months you been in business .......if you look at my previous post on here ....I am out to inform fellow landowners as to what is going on in the UTICA,Marcellus,Upper Devonian, Rome troughand even the old Clinton ......bottoming on this post shows me you are not a man of your word lin by you reply "This will be the last reply to your obvious ignorance regarding this landowner's question. Goodbye." Looks like your sticking your foot in your mouth ......better go back selling used cars

I can't stop laughing. You really need to get a life...or better yet, a job. This time it's goodbye for good. Have a nice day :)

We will really miss you JT BUYRIDER  glad I made you Smile

must have scared him off before he ended up with both feet in his mouth

I attended one of their meetings.  Here is what I remember:

The refreshments consisted of cookies, water and coffee.  The gift baskets that they raffled looked like they went shopping at Aldi's.

They spent most of the time talking about how they were all former landmen and would "never be able to work for another pipeline company again" after starting this Leverage company.  They also talked about the lawyer groups did not have the "experience" to negotiate with the pipeline company to get the landowner a fair deal.  They also said that the lawyer groups charge too much to the landowner.

If I recall correctly, they said Leverage would take 15 to 17% of what the pipeline company offered.  I think they said if they got you $100k, then they got $15k.  This seemed pretty high to me.  When I asked one of their reps to clarify, he stated that it was 15% of any additional compensation over the initial offer.  So, if the pipeline company initially offered 100k, and they were able to get 150k, they would get $7500 and the landowner would get $142,000.  They did not hand out anything in writing, so I am going by memory.  Those two scenarios are significantly different, so I would definitely want to see this in writing before I would even think about using these guys.

I questioned the rep about the company (Leverage).  He said they had YEARS of experience.  I asked him why it was just formed in July of this year?  He said that was true.  He said that they were being "backed" by a big outfit in Texas that had been in the business for years but felt it would look better if they had an OHIO address.  I don't recall him mentioning anything about being represented by the "oldest law firm in Ohio".  (A quick google search says that Arter & Hadden is the oldest law firm in Ohio, but I believe they went out of business a few years ago,,,, I am not sure who is the current oldest is).

Anyhow....  I was not impressed by the reps of Leverage.  They told stories of the big riches that they had negotiated for a couple landowners, but had no proof or guarantees (at least nothing in writing).  Stories are great but putting your trust in these guys was not something that I was willing to do.

Thanks to everyone that replied to this thread.

EASY MONEY HUNTERS out to get their fingers in the landowners pockets and when spectrum gets all the ROW they need they will be gone and probably go back selling used cars.....or form a new company near another pipeline..........the reason they gave you nothing in writing because they didn't want you to have anything in your hands to use against them in court..........word of mouth doesn't mean a hill of beans in court,,,it called puffing in court.......I hope a lot more landowners seen thru the crapola They spent most of the time talking about how they were all former landmen and would "never be able to work for another pipeline company again" after starting this Leverage company......probably because they all got fired
