Drilling within 100 yds of my gas and oil rights

I leased my gas rights to Chesapeake about 6 years ago for a period of 5 years...I didn't know there was a clause in it that they could renew the  lease for an addition 5 years and turn it over to another company..i believe the gas lease is now owned by Vantage  Energy   ...so far no one has contacted me about gas royaltys.......wouldn't it be almost impossible for them not to be taking my gas being so close to my property....and shouldn't someone be contacting me concerning royalty payments?.....any info would be appreciated....thanks Ron

did vantage pay you a renewal bonus? If they did have you contacted them about your questions.......if they didn't renew  you need to get them to release your lease at the courthouse so you can renegotiate a new lease

yea ,they paid the renewal fee....I have contacted them....so far they aren't telling me much via internet and don't answer their phone.....will look into it more

What he will find out is coastal is doing some work their for the coal company. Like I posted previously nothing to do with shale gas.    He will also be sorry some day that he  got stuck with Vantage.

one thing to consider, if in fact they are assembling a drill pad next to your property is the design of the well bore.  Typically, and you can pull up well bore path from the ONDR website to get an example, is there are set backs for where the 1st and last stage of perf's (and fracs) on a horizontal well bore can be placed.  Generally this is driven by regulation. 

Additionally, from a mechanical perspective, in the heel of a well bore (poon of the horizontal closest to the vertical) its difficult to place that final stage directly under the vertical portion as the companies to 'build' a turn, so the last perf and frac (you frac from toe to heel - end of the lateral to the portion closest to the vertical) and therefore the drainage does not always occur directly under the well pad.

Not sure if this is the case or not, but as other have indicated you should be able to pull up the permit, etc and see what parcels are included in the unit and the design of the unit.  If you  would like, you could PM with the particulars (location, etc) and I could pull the info for you and send it to you,

Not sure you got an answer on this,  DCNR is Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and they have nothing to do with gas well plats or permits in PA. (other than on the lands they oversee, State Forests and State Parks) ... DEP (Department of Environmental Protection) does the gas well permitting and oversight in PA.  They have a web site where you can find all sorts of information on wells including the drill/plat maps.  I believe Greene county is covered by the Pittsburgh Regional Office (SWRO) ... good luck...

I stopped and talked to the coastal drilling guys and they said they were just plugging old gas wells on cosols property...I guess they had quite a few to plug in the valley....and that it had nothing to do with Marcellus shale!.....I might as well get a laugh out of it...so jumping to conclusions is still not good!.....thanks for your info Mike
