The Appalachian Basin will be the Largest producer on Earth.

Hopefully by then those O&G companies who have failed to pay landowners a fair royalty and those who have conspired with those O&G companies will be in the Big House for Criminal Activity. I would expect no less if I was robbing the Citizens of Ohio to the tune of Billions of Dollars.

Wondering what the bars represent (guessing Natural Gas only since the subject is the Marcellus) ? ?

But, also wondering if it represents 'Production' / 'Reserves' / 'Proven Reserves' or other ? ?

But, if you stack the Red 'Marcellus' Bar atop the 2ND tallest Blue 'Other US ' Bar everyone can see our country has the 'Bestest With The Mostest' ! !

Wonder how tall a Utica Bar would be ? ! ?

Finally found the notation under the bar graph :

Speed reading fails me from time to time.

Took the notation as not part of the graph the 1st time I guess !

Funny.  I have been saying for over 20 years that western Pa is constantly being screwed over by Harrisburg and Philly which run this state.  Drive east and eastern Pa looks like a different world.  Same in NY.  NYC runs the entire state and western NY gets nothing.

Because of that I have  been telling people that western Pa, western NY, and eastern Oh should all work together and form a new state.  Add in the WV panhandle.The cities of Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Cleveland, Youngstown/Warren, Wheeling all have much more in common with each other and nothing in common with NYC, Philly, or Columbus. They are old steel towns that should be working together.

Strangely, that area pretty much equates with the maps of the Marcellus and the Utica shales. This new state would have quickly become one of the richest states in the union. Shame that it never happened.

To hear / read some folks - maybe the buxom lady hasn't sung on all that yet.

It's supposed to be a brave new world these days.

That would be something to reposition those old State's Boundaries and create a new one ! !

What would you name the new State ? ?

How about New OhPensylGinia ? ?

Just jokin'.

You both may or may not recognize just how profoundly accurate your observations may come to be.

While looking at that graph and reading the article may be impressive in its own right, it is not HALF the story.

The competing shale pure gas fields in the US - the Haynesville, the Barnett, the Fayetteville, simply cannot compete favorably with the Utica/Marcellus due to the latters' economics and prodigious output.
In the coming years, as pipeline continue to deliver Appalachian Basin products to the Gulf region, the northeast will assume a commanding position in production and will hold it for many decades.

The ultra inexpensive electricity you all will have will attract industry/manufacturing along with the expected low cost feedstock from crackers.
You all MUST recognize that a once in a life time opportunity has arisen and, hopefully, take advantage of it.
