Does anyone have an update on the Marchand Unit in North Mahoning Township.  One unit is producing and four additional permits are on the books.

Michael -  I saw the flags & ribbons but not dirt disturbance from the roadway.   I`ll check watch to see when earth moving does occur.   Thanks for the "step-out" explanation.  So it sounds like "step-out wells" would apply for the delineation process.

CNX has also said several times they're not the owner operator on this one. So I'm thinking the principal balked on price of ceramic proppant, perhaps?

Too, EQT had strong confidence in the Deep Dry Utica-- right up until they didn't. Shipman and Pettit results followed Scotts Run... And they suspended the program

Very good point. SK, I forgot about the co-owner status for this well.   Is the owner operator XTO?  Could the ceramic proppant have restricted the flow of gas and disrupted the IP results?  Does it require special fracking equipment to properly use ceramic material,   and did CNX use it? What could have made the Utica shale in BRR different then the Marchand?

Ceramic use likely isn't the problem that using just sand could be. I've seen nothing that shows who is owner. XTO being Exxon, I have my doubts

SK - from the Completion Report it shows Ottowa Ceramics was used 100%.   If CNX was not the owner, how much control would they have over drilling/stimulation decisions?

Missed that they used 100% ceramic. Let's hope they're doing a science well where they're looking to extend the EUR and flatten the curve for 7 years

SK - is it unusual to use 100% ceramic material and no sand?   Would that much ceramic proppant restrict gas flow?   In the Completions Report it shows a ISIP (PSI) value.   What does ISIP stand for?

Thanks to everyone for their knowledge and contributions to this discussion!

My limited understanding is ceramic doesn't crush from weight of 13,000' of overburden the way sand does. EQT cheaped out on Pettit, regretted it

Thanks, so that sounds like CNX or the well owner did go the more expensive route, and maybe this is an experimental well to test using so much ceramic material.

The science might change with the Superior Court remand on fractures being tresspasses, who knows. I certainly don't know what they've done differently here besides drill where no one had yet tested the Utica

It looks like CNX and XTO may have a cooperative agreement in the area, as XTO is the reported operator on CNX's HCPP pad in southern Indiana County.

Just how do these cooperative agreements work?  Is it 50-50 with equal decision making power?   Is the cost shared 50-50?  Does one side share with a smaller percentage to gain the information only for well logs and stimulatio data?   The HCPP well is listed as an XTO well, and the Marchand well is listed as a CNXwell according to PA DEP records.   So, who gets what in these agreements?   Who owns the gas and pays royalties?
