Compressed Natural Gas for vehicles

Does anyone know if these gas companies and subcontractors use any compressed natural gas vehicles or do they just fill up with foreign diesel fuel?  US has Boon Pickens and corporations asking for governmental support and funding for CNG, one has to ask where the leadership is on this topic.

Familyman, Can you expand any on the new composite (or whatever) CNG tanks that CHK and 3M are developing?

Fwiw, I got a quote from your company about an installation on my truck. Unfortunately, at this time I do not have the funds to convert, but I believe the day will come.

Also, in Pa it is legal to take a pre-1973 (i think it is) vehicle and convert without having to be EPA certified for the vehicle model itself. I'm an ole motorhead from back in the day and am seriously considering purchasing another late '60s camaro and purposely building a small block chevy to run on CNG. When/if I get closer to this project I will be in touch!

Thank you Craig, but you have not received a quote from me. I know evry customer and every kind person that has asked me so far, but that said and done, there are new incentives coming out shortly, maybe mid april. If you would like a quote this week, i will make the quote, and explain what i anticipate as the state and federal incentives coming out.

As far as what CHK and 3M are working on, i dont know but what the media says, but there are basically four types of tanks, and they are called Type 1,2,3, and 4. Type1 is your typical steel and they work to get lighter all the way through Typre 4 composite tanks. The industry loves type 4 tanks and i do too, but sometimes, based upon a customers use the extra weight of a type 1 may or may not matter. A type 1 tank on a chevy cavalier would be difficult, but based on your use of your truck, it may be alot cheaper to consider type 1 tanks. As far as a late 60's Camaro convert to CNG, i will help you as i have a 1966 Mustang 289 that i am researching exactly how to legally do it. Yes, these cars are past their useful life, but there are hoops, unless we get the exemptions. Contact me through www.cngonesource.com

Familyman; was at a Chamber/Marcellus Shale Coalition meeting in Franklin last Friday morning.  There was a lot of talk about CNG as transportation fuel...I was expecting you to jump up in the crowd.

One gentleman was talking about all the schools forming a joint venture to get funding to convert the buses to CNG.

  This country has needed an energy policy for 40 years & we have nothing. More money than can be imagined is pocketed everytime these oil prices skyrocket, even when it crashes our economy. But we can not fall into this trap that everytime some little step is taken, like government support of CNG., that it's "socialism" because rest assured that the traders who make billions playing the current game will turn their army of mouthpieces, like Limbaugh,Hannity & the rest lose to scare people into believeing their "freedoms" are somehow being taken away.

I hate to see what would have been a  good post get ruined by a broad stroke of the political brush. Now if you would have mentioned the vast majority of the mouthpieces out there it would have made sense.
