Is it possible to get a knowledgable answer from an oil company without suing them?

When i call, i always get someone with very limited knowledge and no authority to look into an issue. They just read a script. This has been so for three comanies so far. There are some issues with how my lease has been disregarded. I am a reasonable person as long as i am not having to pay a lawyer big bucks by the hour to get simple Complaince. But it seems it is not even possible to talk to anyone at an oil company who might have a clue. I do not wish to talk to a landman. They are just ... Well you know. Question, is there a magic word or phrase or tel no that will get you to someone who knows something at these companies?

I suggest don't call, but write to their legal department.

Anything i put in writing has to be looked over by a lawyer first. I was hoping to save that til a deal was worked out.

I deleted the duplicate of this post. My apologies to the person who replied to the othe one. I have not had good luck with landmen. The ones i have dealt with have not been in possession of accurate information. Some were not even very nice.

I have found that it depends on the question.

One of the things you mention as needing attention was how terms in your lease have been disregarded.  I don't see any way that is not a legal question, and if the company rep has a brain in his/her head, that question will be referred to their legal team.  Since you apparently have your own lawyer (I'm assuming that the lessee is aware of this), the first thing out of their legal rep's mouth will be "I can't talk to you; send this through you lawyer".  Ex parte communications are verboten, and if YOU are represented Their attorney generally will not talk to you.

On the other hand, if what you were wanting was, say, a schedule of when they were going to be conducting a particular operation, maybe to remove cattle or to be sure to stay off the roads to avoid their traffic, you might be able to talk to the local production folks to get an idea.

I would talk to their legal team. That is what i mean, how do i talk to someone with knowledge and authority to address issues.

You have to be knowledgeable about gas/oil legal terms  and law, if you get through to anyone they will refer you to the legal department, like Frank and Charles said. Good luck with that! You need a lawyer, and not just any lawyer, but an expert in gas and oil. Trust me, I have "been to the mountain" with the oil men, and 3 years later and thousands of dollars later, I've been vindicated, but like Ringo Starr says "You know it don't come easy".
