I finally found out why the energy company I'm with wanted my husband to sign the lease after 3 years of the date I signed it. It should've NEVER been allowed to have only 1 spouse sign it (even if the land is solely in my name). Ohio has a dower law. From what I understand the lease is not worth the paper it was printed on. I'm wondering if I should be fair and try to renegotiate or go with what the lawyers say. I won't go into the confidential advice I received. Does anyone have any opinions on this? The company broke the law. Then tried to sneak it by us by ratifying the lease. I just want to be fair to my family and the company and not make a big fuss. Has anyone renegotiated a lease with a company? I would be interested in hearing your opinions, expertise and advice. I'd much rather renegotiate or seek another company. ???????
