I see on the map that the Ryser well has 2 horizontals.Does anyone know if additional ones are planned for this well, similar to those on the Boy Scout well? That one appears to have 6. Thanks.

Gulfport has permitted a third well on the Ryser pad.

Randy,You seem to be the one to ask so here goes,How wide of a swath is a lateral? That is to say what distance is allotted either side of the casing.500 ft? 250 ft?
Thanks,Bob
Bob, I was looking at the ODNR website yesterday to see where the two newer wells will go. It looks to me that they both go NW towards Clendening Lake. They appear to be shorter in length, but I don't know how many feet seperates them. If someone could post the maps of the drilling units, it would help.
Randy
Actually, the new "standard" seems to be 500' spacing.

Sorry to butt in, but I remember reading a gulfport letter that said they are beginning to beleive that 425ft. would be optimal.
Hello Hiker,
I'm a hiker myself...my wife and I were hiking in the Canadian Rockies last September.
Anyway, check out the attached "techie" presentation by Gulfport. There are several interesting revelations concerning their Utica program. Page 31 of the presentation specifically deals with well spacing.

Hiker,
Thanks for the info....be anxious to see results of GPOR's test. So, to accomplish that on the Boyscout wells, does that imply 5 laterals? If 400' spacing yields similar results as 1000', that would be really good news for all parties!
From my perspective, Gulfport seems to be leading the pack technology-wise. Their outstanding well results to date seem to support that assertion. They also seem to have found the Utica sweet spot, but likely there was some luck involved with their positioning.
Anyway, I lace my comments with "seems to" because we really need more well results to draw valid conclusions. Also GPOR has been more forthcoming with tech data than most of the E&P's. One wonders whether this represents an attempt to influence the investor community, who funds their aggressive drilling program.

Hiker,
Things will really bust loose when the various midstream projects come on line this year and early next year. BTW..I own property close to the Shugert wells, including one parcel not yet leased. Seems like a good place to be, and hence my strong interest in GPOR!! And GPOR also says they are also seeking additional acreage in the area.

Hiker,
I have no inside information, but I'm speculating the GPOR wells from the two Shugert wells north will feed MarkWest's Cadiz processing facility. Interim refrigeration of 60 mmcf/day is supposedly on line and Harrison I cryogenic refrigeration of 125 mmcf/day is due 1Q2013. Gathering pipelines are in process and may be the gating item. Do you have any info on this?
Yes, GPOR looks like the "Real Deal".
BluFlame
Hiker,
MarkWest's Noble County processing facility doesn't seem to include fractionation or de-ethanization. From what I've read, the liquids will be transferred via pipelines to their Harrison County or Majorsville facilities for fractionation and de-ethanization.
If this is factual, and the pipelines to Harrison/Majorsville won't be complete until 4Q2013 (per current MarkWest schedule), it begs the question "What happens to the liquids in the interim?". I've read that liquids with ethane included cannot be transported by truck or rail.
I don't claim to be an expert on any of this, but I am a very interested observer. Maybe you or others more knowledgeable than me can comment on my assertions?!?

There is a big pipe coming from the Ryser well to some sort of station on Mclhaney rd .Lot of construction going on.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
