Just curious...

I am in Liberty township and a few months ago got an offer to buy my royalties for 1500 to 1800 per acre, but they would do a more in-depth look if I was serious which "mite change the numbers" slightly....even tho I am not drilled or receiving any royalties ..talked to a landsman rite b4 I contacted them and he advised caution as there will be "significant" activity in my area in the "near future"....how about it, anybody else get an offer or hear anything or see any activity here in Tioga Co. ?

There was a bit of shallow oil produced near Gaines perhaps 100 years ago. Too shallow to go after under modern regulations, and not anything even close to profitable now. But there is a little there. Nothing in the deeper formations, however, particularly in the shales. Tioga County is much too far east to have any oil or even wet gas potential. Anyone who talks about oil in the Marcellus or Utica isn't being realistic - there's just none there. Dry gas in the Marcellus appears to be the only thing Tioga County has going for it - hopefully that will be plenty when the market improves at some future date. More than many places have.

If there was oil production, the local refineries would know about it. And it would have to be reported to the DEP. Don't wait for the details here, as I'm quite sure there are none.

from what I can see 99% of this page is just B.S-  takes comments only a few replies before the insults fly-  no matter-

Yep.. testing lots of testing.  lots of recon.. lots of stuff going on-  but if there isn't oil I'd like to know why they had a small hammer head in Troy-   I mean how long were there gas wells here pre Marcellus and how many people knew about them?

Also-  government bodies... you're telling me they have it together?

Who's the largest holder of power in McKean Co... it's not shell.

after Gringo's smart ass comment... fat chance.
Rumor.. Gringo needs to get on some locations- that well you speak of was a core sample- a toothpick into a cake.. no numbers yet.. gringo needs to make friends with company men- buy a few beers-  learn what he's looking at...  thanks but clearly this is just another "coffee counter"

then again who am I?  I'm the nobody who gave you the full scoop on the FBI's investigation of the IED's and Bombs in the oilfield-  Got HBO to say it's all Bull- had sit downs with most every political figure in the area.. but hey.. Gringo manages mineral rights.  Cheers..

Too busy going over my royalty statement.

Jack why is Shell drilling TBR'S and Utica wells?

They aren't actually drilling TBR wells, that's a shorthand for saying they're having a look at the formations in and around the Utica. Shell likes to do basic science anywhere they have acreage. They've drilled a batch of test wells in western McKean County in the last year or two, and there's been no development drilling and virtually no production - just testing and learning the geology of the area. They may find something in a different formation at some point, but the odds are long. Shell, however, does have the money to do their homework, and it is one advantage of leasing to them.

geography has little to do with why they are doing nothing in McKean/Elk or Potter. That area is going to keep in in the family- that's fact-  those people are not far removed from the day's of Rockefeller and I highly doubt they will let another large body in.

You seem to know little enough about Tioga County, so I'm not sure pretending to have the secrets of McKean, Potter and Elk County is a wise move. This will just drive people away from this forum, and that's not in anyone's best interests.

Jack has Shell drilled any Utica wells in Tioga county?

Yes, and the best way to check what they've done is unfortunately totake the time required to work through the completion reports they've filed. They have permitted numerous wells they never drilled, and don't always do exactly when you'd expect based on the way the well was named. There hasn't been much drilling to the Utica, however, It's generally expected to be non-commercial in Tioga County, and even if that's not the case everywhere, it will be in most places.

Jack do you know the name of any of the well pads that Shell drilled a Utica well on in Tioga county?
