Was the horizontal leg in the nw or se direction and how long?
The lateral runs somewhere around 330 degrees, or slightly more North than West. It was permitted for a length of a bit more than 6050 feet. I don't have the completion report in front of me, but I believe i recall it being over 4,000 but less than 5,000 feet. You do know that it has been producing since about this time last year? However I was told that Dominion shut them off because the BTU rating of the gas was too high, which means they gotta separate some liquids before being able to sell any more gas. Of course to do that they have to build and install some more equipment. Plus they are about ready to connect the first gathering line from other wells to the thompson site. Also, There's a big squabble of some type about a road beside the site because of the new equipment needed and zoning laws of some type. At least that is what I understand, but don't know first hand.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the update. Good info. Do you know the coordinates?
The coordinates listed above are slightly off, but if do an aerial shot on Google Maps you'll be able to see it. Can anyone give me a little more info on this well? I am a doctoral student at Kent State University in Geography, where my research is looking at the impacts on rural communities and agriculture from Marcellus drilling. Additionally, my aunt owns the adjacent property right down Lime Kiln road (on Google Maps you can see where the water retention pond is..that's her property). Are there reports out on this well?

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
