No. How much did they settle for? I know McDonald Law Firm was trying to get people in Bradford county to sign up for a lawsuit against Chesapeake. I think they are going to court in May

I have not been to any of the meetings nor have I signed up with any law firm.  Which one do we sign up with?

I sent a friend request so that I could give you my observations. I have no interest in one law firm or another but the language in your lease may give a clue as the best way to proceed. I have no interest in a public discussion on the merits of the various pathways in this matter.
There was a news story posted about a PROPOSED settlement, but no law firm listed. The settlement proposal history showed an initial figure of 7 million dollars. That was rejected and a second offer of 12 million dollars. The problem that I saw with these settlements was that this dealt with previously paid royalty payments and there would be no affect on future payments. In my opinion, any settlement that does not change deduction behavior, in favor of the landowner, is not a settlement.

I think it also said lawfirm gets 2.5 percent for the lfe of well, anyone involved with the clark not mcdonald law firm. Dosn't. 12 millon sound to cheap !

I agree on paying for recovery is fair and not a future payment through another deduction. In this case, paying anyone a percentage on future royalties is rewarding arrogance of a questionable moral code.

In the article I saw late last year about the proposed settlement, the damages paid were for past royalties and were calculated by reimbursing 55% of post production costs and therefore allowing Chesapeake to keep 45% of post production costs.  It also stipulated that going forward Chesapeake could charge 66% of production costs.  Typically fees for attorney's on future royalties only apply for a set period of time.

...as evidenced in the article linked to by Mr. Capwell:

"The attorneys are also entitled to receive up to one-third of the savings lease owners will receive due to the reduction in post-production costs going forward, but that payment would stop after five years."

Yes, "heard" it but don't know the details.

In a statement to it's shareholders Chesapeake advised that the have currently set aside a $100,000,000. reserve for settlement of these various lawsuits.

No. Infact I just received papers to sign up for a lawsuit against Chesapeke and all their partners in crime yesterday in the mail.
