Has anyone heard about the production of wells in Monroe County area? I know that we have the most wells in Ohio but I am interested in the production level. I live right on the Ohio River North of Ormet Corp. Near me I have heard as little as 13.00 per year and as much as 1700.00 per day royalties (a little hard to believe that one!!). I also would like any information on companies drilling here. I have been approached by PC Explorations. Has anyone dealt with them?

Amy you might be able to find the production data on the ODNR website:

If is updated every year so if the well you are looking for information on is new it would not show up for a while. If you know the company that drilled you might be able to search for information online. I use a little known search engine at: www.infojukebox.com It only works with MS Explorer. I have turned up a lot of information on the Trenton Black River and Marcellus Shale with it. More than once I been asked by companies where I got the information and they were shocked at where I found it.
Hi Amy,

I have ~ 70 acres in Monroe. I am in the same boat as you...not sure what potential royalties would be. Curious as to what PC Exploration is leasing land for (signing bonus).
Amy, have you gathered any more information since your June question? I spoke with a land man located in St. C and who recently approached my neighbors about leasing, since all of the leases have, or are, expiring in my area. I have also been in contact with a petroleum engineer who has suggesteds we form a large group of ten thousand acreas and let his company attempt to get a good price for leasing, while splittng the profits, as well as get some wells drilled in this area. I am rather busy right now and not certain I want to get involved with people, problems, jealousies, leases, but I am going to talk with this gentleman again within a couple of weeks. I believe he and his companies may be more reputable than a lot of the land men who approach us and attempt to steal from us. The goof in St. C was stupid enough to offer me 100 per acrea. I know people who have turned down anyhwere from 800 to 3800 hundred per acre. We must be reasonable, but we must also not let ourselves get swindled by the land men! Also, the 12.5 percent royalty agreements are also a joke......a friend of mine across the River in WV, just signed for 3000 per acrea and 18.75 percent royalty. I believe that is reasonable with what little knowlege I have of what is happening, but I would also have to give that a lot of consideration. We must weigh our decisions and I personally believe it would be better to do so as a group. Please give me your thoughts!
Hello RL,
Where in Monroe County do you have property? I think it would be advantageous to start a land group and I would be interested in joining a group. I have 195 acres in Monroe Co on the border of Adams and Switzerland Twps. Are you or Amy anywhere close to me or do you know of anything happening in my area? Thanks for any information you have.
Jeremy

Hi RL,
Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday or today. I've been away from the computer. I will try to call you sometime Sunday.
Thanks,
Jeremy
Amy, the 1700 per day is good, but not unbeleivable.........I have heard some real good numbers coming from wells across the river that are now in production.
I live very near ormet. Reserve energey has showed me a map of everyone surrounding us and highlighted the people who have already signed. They said that we are in groups and if one person in the group hits we all do except the one who doesn't sign. Most of our area was signed. Most people got only 50.00 per acre and the 12.9, they said theey were leaving because they had all they needed and we needed to sign or we would not get included in the "group". We signed....for only a little more than others got. We fall inside of the group that ormet sits in, they have already drilled a vertical and are now going to drill horitontal so we were afraid not to sign and then lose out. This makes me sick because I have relatives just across the river who got 300.00 per acre and 17%
Amy, Just curious how many acres do you have and what was their offer.. I think they are trying to scare you into signing. They are making it sound like they don't care whether you sign or not, but the truth is if you don't sign they can't drill under you and they may have to change the well path, which could hurt their production depending on the where you acreage sits in relation to where they drill from. On the other hand, note that there has be a reluctance of the operators to move across the river because of the diminishing thickness of the Marcellus. You may never get the offers that they get across the river.
Frank, can you provide a map and documentation of the diminishing thickness of the Marcellus in Ohio, along with the documented thinkness across the river in WV?

Also, if we can get a very large group of thousands of acres in one block here in Monroe/Belmont, we will then have something to market!

It is quite strange Amy has been offered 50 per acrea when I just spoke with a gentleman this past week who has turned down 800 per acre in this same area and he owns a large number of acres. The land men will play us for every dollar they can!
$50/acre is pathetically low. Can't provide maps, although I have seen some logs in WV. Not much data in Monroe county. It is well known that the Marcellus thins to the west and it doesn't extend far into Ohio. At least near the river you have better shale than most.

$800/acre doesn't sound too bad. Not sure about the latest in WV, but have heard of offers well into the 1-2 thousand range.
Frank......give me a call at 740.458.1771or email rburgess1771@dishmail.net......I have a WV contact who just signed a 3K/18.75% acre lease agreement. I also know of a group who turned down 3.8K per acre for 250 landowners about three weeks ago and it was on WWVA news.
