Sigh. I wonder how much land she has in the unit and at what royalty to get $2000-3000/month from a 'lousy' well. I'd settle for a lousy well....Tioga County is turning in to the 'haves' and 'havenots', and so far I'm on the wrong side. I can't even get a lease :-(
I imagine Jackie got the very best terms from East of anyone that she negotiated for.
I have also not heard of any people getting $190 an acre in bonus 5 years ago in Tioga County.  Perhaps some people did along the Bradford County border, but all that I ever heard of was the standard $60 an acre for the first year and $5 an acre after that.  Never-the-less, Jackie seems to have become quit the spokes person for the rosey lease conditions in Tioga County.  Obama could use some of her help with the press, I think.
I don't remember the exact terms she got, but at the time they were considered pretty good. I know that the people she represented were kind of annoyed that the really big $$ deals started shortly after they signed. But her deal was part of what started it...it had to start somewhere.  Leasing in Tioga Co. isn't looking very good from where I'm sitting.
I thought the article was an interesting "historical" recap, but it didn't address the current realities.

You beat me to it.  Was about to post:

"Pegula drew violations as gas driller
In the course of making his fortune, the Florida billionaire negotiating to buy the Buffalo Sabres contributed heavily to politicians in a position to advance his business interests and established a less-than-stellar track record in the environmentally dicey business of drilling for natural gas, The Buffalo News has found. ..."

I think he played us just like a hockey game from the start,he's had alot of practice with this gas business?
He had the good luck to be in the right place at the right time and he played his hand well.  But I couldn't help but think when the $88M gift to the Penn State hockey program was announced ... why not also/instead science/engineering scholarships to Penn State for students from counties where he made his $$.

scroll to the second frame on the right hand side of the window..It should be an interview with BP man T. Boone Pickens and his advice of renewable energy, NG and fracing..VERY INTERESTING

Lynn and Brian, I thought the Erie Times reporters did a good job on the Tioga County story, looking at the development from several angles and a variety of players. Everytime you consent to an interview the risk is assumed that every detail will not be properly interpreted, case in point, we did not recieve $190 per acre per year but $190 over the five years of the lease signed in 2005. This involved our farm and 34 other neighboring properties and I had no connection to the business at the time. The lease was not perfect, none are, but we had a pretty satisfied group that still negotiates together as neighbors. I probably said, with a wide grin on my face, that "since the DEP production reports came out I realized ours was the fifth lousiest well in Tioga County PA." The fact is, because it was the first MS well ERI drilled in Tioga county as a test, it is producing a 10th of what it likely should. Many would not have shared all I did with a newspaper because they feel it is no one's business and because just as I read here it puts a bullseye on your back. I shared because I thought as I always have that the information could help other landowners. If we had a cow producing a 10th of what she should we would want that situation to improve and that was my point, it should not have been construed as whining. Neither I nor R&R work for any companies and have completed deals with at least four different companies in Tioga County. If either one of you would like to contact me I would be happy to talk. Jackie Root

Hi Jackie,I was wondering if you know of any leasing in the northern tier of Tioga county pa. lately?

                                             Thank You
