Introduce Yourself
I have not encountered a land man recently. The negotiator who began the most recent lease arrangements pissed off people that I respect a great deal before I ever talked to any land men. Aquaintances and friends here in Wyoming who work in the industry informed me on what should be an equitable lease.

Marcellus Shale Unit or Pool Size Limits

Posted on February 9, 2010 at 2:37pm 5 Comments

I brought up this subject recently in the Tioga County, Pa. forum, but I feel I should raise the issue to a wider audience. As I am informed, there seems to be no law in Pennsylvania limiting the size of a unit or pool around a given well. The assumption is that the unit will be around the size of a section - 640 acres- a square mile. Some units are a little bigger or smaller, depending on the geography of the actual drilling of the well's horizontal leg. If unit size is limited in a given…

I think this is important information that any land owner, who is unleased or nearing the end of a lease term, should be aware of. The PA State Forest department recently put up seve sections of state forest for lease bids. The results have been posted.

Potter County Tract 001 $3,125 an acre by Seneca was the winning bid.

Tioga County Tract 007 $4,625 an acre by Seneca

Clearfield County Tract 323 $5,250 an acre by Exco Resources

Potter County Tract 416 $3,750 an acre by Penn… Continue

Future Geothermal from emptied, fracked gas wells.

I had a short but interesting conversation with a friend of mine who works with a think tank for developing new sources of energy. They are experimenting with pumping water into deep fracked wells (8000 Feet he says.) The water is heated by the naturaly high temperatures at that depth. The water could be recovered at the other end of the fracked area and used to generate energy through steam turbines. I don't know how far along they are, but it might be something to consider when signing a… Continue

Was looking at the May issue of Discover Magazine and there is an article called Fracking Nation. Very interesting. I now know more of how this type of drilling is and much more. If you get a chance pick up a copy.   BJ Jackson Tioga Co.

Hi Brian:

I am hesitant to post too much, even on your personal comment wall as I don't want to jeopardize anything for this guy.

If give me a call,  I'll tell you what I know.  Or give me your phone number an I'll call you.

Hi Brian just got a chance to get on computer since we are not doing pipeline work for Anadarko until next tuesday. Dads well has just been vertical drilled, now he is waiting for the horizontal drilling. Yes the job is still good but not all fun since we are in Centre county living in a motel and only get home on sundays. Looks like Cruttendens well is under way along with alot more activity around here.
